First of all, why in the world did you get an LS motor? My hunch is someone told you to get a B18 and you just picked up the first one you saw thinking they're all the same. They are not. My theory is based on your second question.

Answer = no.

find a manual transmission for your b18a1..
and why a b18a1 instead of a b18b1 btw? i'd think b18b1's are easier to find anyways..

Maybe he has a budget? Maybe he found one for a really good price? Maybe he plans on boosting the motor on stock internals, in which the LS is know to be the most reliable for? Maybe....

OP, like 2slo4u said, B series motors will only use B series transmissions. :thumbs up

Id personally prefer an a1 over a b1, but what are you looking to do with your car? That would determine what transmission you want.

But for future reference b18a1's and b18b1's are motors out of ls integras. These motors are non vtec, but have solid torque band if it is just going to be a daily driver. A b18c1 is what your were probably recommended which comes out of a gsr integra. It is vtec, creating quite a bit more horsepower, but just slightly less torque stock than an ls motor.

One thing you could do with your block if you are interested is put a b16a2 head or a gsr head on it and tap the oil lines etc.. to make it an lsv, but that requires more money and more knowledge so do your research.

Now back to the topic.

If you are just daily driving it, try to find an ls trans. It will keep you at lower rpm's on the highway, but if you just want to be a teenager and want to go fast and dont care about your mpg or the noise you make driving at 4k rpm's, go for a b16 tranny.

There is a solution for nearly everything out there in the world, just make sure you do your research before you make impulse and unknowledgeable decisions. It just takes one google search to find what u r looking for.

Give the noob a break guys, he obviously is new here :p

thats no bull im new to the tuner scene so what the best way to do research? and for now it a daily driver for now but my goal is to make it pure strip and i do plan on boosting but dont know how much boost i can run on it i was building a d16z until i heard that Bs are great motors for performance and kind of on a budget but playing with income tax money got about 5000 to play with so trying to make it a jaw dropper for a tuner

Focus on maintaining the d16 for now and do some research on how you want to build a b. If you pm me, i will try to explain it all to you better and get you some links tomorrow.

^^ That wouldn't work either. lol
i think your trying to say, you cant put a B series tanny on a d series. If thats the case... your wrong. They make a plate you can buy for about 800$ and you can also go a cheaper route too but its a long story. But note it has been done MANY times. look it up

Your best bet for hp and tq specs is to hit up wiki. Just type the motor and BOOM! Also i hope you know you need motor mounts ecm, ect..also an example on mixing b series stuff with d series is like trying to make a square block fit in a circular hole...they just dont fit. My $0.02
