140km/h @ 6800 - 3rd gear
I was on the highway today, and the 3rd get 140km/h @ 6800, could not get to test the 4th gear.

I recently got this car - JDM ES3 Honda Civic Ferio RS with a D17A vtec motor.
I installed a CAI with the stock 2: exhaust.

What can I do to get more power naturally aspirated while keeping it stock?

Posts deleted. Keep it on topic. He's not asking for a lecture, he's asking how to get more power out of his car.

A better intake, better exhaust and some really good air filters will do the trick.
also, maybe upgrade your ignition system and an ecu tune..... hope this helps you!!!!!

My bad Joe..

back on topic:

to be honest, your d17 sohc is going to be difficult to make power out of.. your best choice could be boosting it.. you can put down some really good numbers and you would be very pleased also..

I know you want to keep it "stock" but there isnt much you can do because of the sohc

if you are interested in turbocharging your d17 go to turbod16.com and read the info on that site, youll learn alot.

Speed has more to do with power than gearing. Gearing affects acceleration and torque much more than the actual power. i.e. 140 kmh=~87mph. In 3rd at redline I'm doing like 105 without a problem. The trans is a stock LX transmission. I challenge you to do that with 115 hp stock. If you want to go faster, your options are boost, swap, and nitrous. N/A with a d17 is difficult, largely unsupported, and expensive. 130 hp can be had, but not a lot more than that, realistically. So if you are serious about more power, boost or swap.

What he wants is a a higher speed in any given gear which would mean a custom tranny or upgraded cam/valve train.

D17A1 is none vtec. The only way to get power the d17 is to turbo it or get a nos express kit. Is your car right hand drive? Because if not then i dont think that its a ES3...

You should look into completing your basic "breathing" mods. Since you've opted for the cold air intake (with the longer tube), you'll notice more gains if any, in the top end. I think with a 4-2-1 design header and a full catback exhaust system will work out well for you in trying to net higher speeds in the top end.

Thank you.

More speed and power is what I want, N/A.

Another thing you can look into is getting a new lighter aftermarket clutch. It'll help the crank torque a little more freely.

Just as a note, a 7 lb flywheel is a PITA to daily drive. A 12 lb streetlite is a good compromise though.
