I drive an automatic so I can't really talk, but if you were gonna drop that money on a car like that why the hell wouldn't you get a manual transmission
It's not the same kind of auto that's in your car...

Only problem is the $50k mark-up :xThe auto will shift faster than you can, why do you think most supercars are becoming automatics.
You obviously haven't seen of the crazy ass Japanese track racers that shift incredibly fast then have you? I don't know if they'd shift faster than a sporty automatic transmission... But they shift DAMN fast. I can shift really fast too but it's pointless when you get crazy wheel hop and engine rock from shot motor mounts :(.

Still a beautiful car. I don't care if it's automatic. It's fast, sleek, pretty, and handles amazing.

Apparently the car shifts in .2 seconds...I'm pretty sure humans can't shift that fast. The ferrari f430 scuderia shifts in 60 milliseconds  The point is, dsg type gearbox's will always shift faster than a "old fashioned" stick. I do prefer the regular stick though, sure it's slower but you feel more in tune with the car imo. It's the reason I like the Carerra GT, it still has the stick shift in it. Definitly wouldn't turn this car down though  It's truley an amazing example of engineering and value.

I could careless how quick it is and how fast it can change gears, driving that car and not being able to be in control of the RPM's would kill it for me.

i was readin an article on it the other day. faster than the corvette z06 or something like that

Evo Magazine # 116 (April 2008) GTR vs Z06 vs R8 vs GT3

GT-R vs Z06

"The GT-R feels every bit as ferocious as the Z06... the fact that the big Nissan can match or beat the Corvette despite its extra weight and shortfall in power is incredible. Throw a damp surface into the equation and the Z06 wouldn't see which way the GTR went." (Bovingdon, 77)

GT-R vs Z06 on a drag strip @ Santa Pod
-----------------Z06----------------------GT-R
0-60-----------3.9 sec------------------3.8 sec
0-100----------8.5 sec------------------8.9 sec
100-0----------4.5 sec (300.7ft)-------4.3 sec (289.2ft)
0-100-0=====14 sec============13.9 sec

WINNER : GT-R

GT-R vs R8

For the FOOLS badmouthing the Trans...

"...what is unquestionable is that the GT-R gains time and yardage on every upshift. Driving full-throttle up through the gears is like being in a movie where the gearshifts have been edited out - the shove from the seat is consistent, only the engine note changes. And downshifts are virtually imperceptible, only the flick of the tacho needle and the change in engine pitch indicating that a gearchange has been made." (Barker, 82)

On the R8, " For the first time I can recall, the Audi's gloriously keen 4.2-litre V8 feels a bit weedy - even pushed to the 8200rpm red line in every gear, the R8 makes no impression on the gap to the Nissan." (Barker, 84)

"Cars that genuinely set new standards are rare, but the GT-R has drawn a new line in the sand." (Meaden, 84)

WINNER : GT-R

GT-R vs GT3

911 GT3..............1:22.6
GT-R...................1:21.7

To put that into some kind of perspective, "the GT-R slots in just beneath the Ferrari Enzo." (Meaden, 91)

WINNER : GT-R

VERDICT:

"it piped the Corvette Z06 in a straight line, showed the Audi R8 the way home on the road, and stopped the watch almost a second ahead of the 911 GT3 around the West Circuit. Utterly staggering... Respect is due. Big respect. Nissan has built a winner, a new performance icon." (Meaden, 93)

"It's a baby Veyron," (Bovingdon, 93)
