I believe you can use 10w30 motor oil, but no matter what i'd stay with Hmtf.
If it's not broke, don't fix it.

The original manual that came with my 93 ej1 says in it to use hmtf or 10w30..Either way i'd only use hmtf.Only temporarily

You have a 5th Gen Civic and the OP has a 6th Gen Civic. The 6th Gen Civic says that 10W30 may only be used temporarily in the transmission.The original manual that came with my 93 ej1 says in it to use hmtf or 10w30..Either way i'd only use hmtf.
