Wow, that's great if you feel like wasting money.

A custom kit will run you about 1/4 of that. And work as well, if not better.

if you're not going for an all out beast, the greddy kit is an excellent way to go. you can get the kit w/ intercooler for under $2k at most places

for 92snail: that is just a kit u bolt on to whatever motor you have in your car (must buy the proper kit for different motors)
i wouldnt buy that fmax kit, waaaaaaaaay too much money, u can buy turbo kits for under 3k with everything u need, drag kits come to mind (about 3100 for full kit retail) but if u only have the d series motor in your car i wouldnt get a turbo kit with a t3/04 turbo, that turbo is too big for that motor, get the greddy kit with the 18g turbo in it, that would work way better for u

4 grand seems about right... for the turbo kit and the tuning to the engine (resleeved, forged pistons & rods, cam, headgasket...) :P

Very high custom jobs are much lower and tailored to your engine, not just some random stuff with cool names to draw your attention

defenitely go with edelbrock or greddy. i am personally going to buy the greddy kit bc 1)it will be complete 2)much less time on in the shop getting tuned.

greddy is a waste of time and money. if youve done any turbo research you'd find that the greddy kit puts down 250ish hp. A custom setup will put down 300+.

no way he'll get 250hp out of a SOHC motor with a greddy kit, stock internals your lookin at aroung 160-180whp maybe with a built motor and tuning with higher boost you could see 250, and unless he wants to throw his drivability out the window and have an hour of turbo lag he aint gonna get 300hp

if you want more than 200whp do a motor swap then think about a turbo kit, and yes, u could do a custom kit, my friend did one on his gsr for about 1700 total, but your definetly gonna have to know what is all involved in a turbo kit and installing and fabrication skills i would not reccommend a t3/04 turbo on a SOHC motor, the motor just doesnt breath enough to spool that large of a turbo up, even a B16 takes 4500rpm to get to full boost with a t3/04

read more man. someone just recently posted their dyno of their greddy on a z6.

And t3/t4 is perfectly fine for a SOHC... granted you won't have instant response, but thats not really a big deal once the turbo kicks. Ill read up and quote the lag from a couple different SOHC t3/t4's.. if Im not mistaken its in the range of 3.8 to 4.4k rpms

my friends shop is doing a turbo on my friends crvtec in his crx for 1500...i got quoted about the same for my kit. He gets turbos, wastegate and bov wholesale and he makes all the rest...he just buys intercooler cores (much cheaper) and welds tank ends to fit whatever car plus he is perfecting his obd1 tuning skills and has just created his own electronic boost controller (no s**t, this guy should work for greddy).

^^ that man is some sort of prodigy then =)

for the majority though, your going to pay money from a shop due to labor costs.
