hey everyone i have a d16y7 automatic and i want to get some quick power without expensive swaps if i boosted it would that be ok for the engine or would i blow it?
my friend ran an 8 psi greddy stock internals on his 2000 ex and his tranny died.and 3 months after he replaced his tranny internals went. sorry ive heard two sides im just telling you what happend to my friendDont tell him that...
You'll be fine i'd only run 6-10 PSI
You need to get a CHIP and put it in your ECU and take it to get tuned after you put your turbo on, If you get it tuned you'll be good to go
My fried has a 95 100% Stock internals runnin 10 PSI for 3 years now and still runs strong
Pm me if you want more indepth into what i think you need to do
No, that isn't true. He will need an OBD-I Conversion harness, along with a new ECU.Dont tell him that...

d16's are not strong engines. my buddy had a boosted d16 in his hatch that popped and i dont think he was even making 250 at the wheels. 250hp is pushing it on stock d series rods. they are weak. auto civic trannies+boost is a bad idead16's are strong engines. I believe that the internals can handle around 250hp depending on milledge of engine. the only problem is that the tranny can not. I really don't know how much hp a auto trans can handle. hopefully someone can answer that.
search turbo16.com and they have a huge post/sticky about autos and boost, stock tranny can survive up to about 200hp, but you will need a tranny cooler. they also have links for performance tranny rebuild kits for automatics that can hold 300-350hp if you want to seriously boost. but def get a tranny cooler if your gonna boost your engine with an auto, helps alot but it delays the inevitable. so basically with a tranny cooler, and stock internals, i wouldnt go over 180whp , and get a low-rpm spooling turbo like a t25 and you should be ok. do a compression and leak down test before you think about it any further. oh and i agree with the cosmetic headgasket and headstuds also
