i juss bought a B16 and its fully built. thing is .. i think it has Type R cams, pistons, and other Type R things. should i replace the pistons and other Type R stuff before i boost it ?? cuz i heard that the Type R parts have a really high compression and that will blow my motor quickly... but i was wondering if all i needed to switchwere the pistons... thanks

Well, if it's got all the internals of a CTR motor, than you basically have a b16b which has a 10.8:1 comp ratio... not prime for turbo.

8:1 9:1.... but 10:1 that's iffy..........

you NEED to know exactly what's done to that motor.... take it to a shop that can tell you

how much did you buy it for? and atleast you know youre a RICER.

my opion, if you want to boost... sell the motor and buy a b18b and then piece together a kit tuned with uberdata for ~1500 including EVERYTHING (which means youre going to buy used stuff and look for deals)

OMG.....here we go with the boost genius'
waste your time telling 'em how to build the fastest drag civic ever, as if you'd build it yourself

^^^he said it for me. People on this forum always wanna suggest the most powerfull way to build a ride. We need to keep in mind that everyone has their own idea of whats fast and whats not, and we all have different goals.

well im not a street racer, drag strip, or endurance racer.....so HP numbers mean squat in my book. I just want a comfortable ride that I can show off and say it has "potential".

i know i want a turbo now, stock LS in a 4g hatch is potent enough, but with boost, it's a force to not be messed with, lol

hey f**k your couch asshat.

Im not telling him how to build the fastest civic, and atleast i give correct information. Handles knows what im talking about, because he told you to shut your mouth because you give WRONG information.

Im suggesting a CHEAPER (which youll say is a bad way to "tune"... which you negate by your next statement)

Im giving my e-pinion, which is based off of a lot of reading, and listening to other people's opinions. Im not being an e-mechanic in any sense, just using logic.

b18b + turbo + dyno tune = same price as b18c5

vtec with turbo = diminishing returns... much more useful na. with the correct cam, its a moot point.

so really dont be labeling me or trying to start s**t, especially when you have absolutely no room to talk.

i agree.. personally, having a (13 sec) fast civic for daily driving doesn't sound like fun. Too much attention, too many possible headaches, and too many risk of losing an investment (crash/stolen)

Plus having over 200whp leads to major traction problems... and so many other upgrades, namely brakes and suspension.
