I think weight plays a bigger role in FF cars when your only taking about low 200whp numbers. Traction is a bigger issue once you up the numbers. But obviously you'll run a much quicker time because your car is much lighter than his. But props to you if you run high 12's in a sohc on street tires, its not an easy thing to do.

*off note: Theres a website that has the fastest FF street cars. Cars that run the 1/4 on street tires, and it has the tires they use and what they ran, and what not. Anyone know what it is. I had it bookmarked, but deleted it.
just for clarification, I use slicks

I know, I saw your video. I'm just saying...If I had a choice between running slicks or having my car weigh as much as a hatch, I'd take the weight over the slicks. Plus, running a 13 flat on street tires is cooler than running it on slicks =)

i dunno.... slicks up the pimp factor 10 fold themselves..... added onto a 13 flat out of a sohc.....

i'd say that's nearly as pimp as it gets :what:

No doubt its a pimp car...but this ain't turbo95's thread. Why wouldn't you want to run a 13 on street tires, and then throw slicks on and run an even faster time?

never said you wouldnt..... but it still doesnt take away from the insane pimp factors of a 13 second flat sohc hatch on slicks.

like I said tho....traction is the key....without slicks my car wouldnt catch until third, first and second I wouldnt even leave the line. If I were to use street tires, I would use some drag radials. Im still having traction problems in second with the slicks

if i decide to put a turbo on my EM1 im definitly going to get LSD and some traction upgrades. a 300hp car will have s**t track times if it just sits there and spins its tires

LSD, a good one anyway, which would be a quaife, cus pretty much anything else is trash, is about 900...If I had just put a turbo in my car, I'm pretty sure I couldnt afford that.

yes you are, I'll be the first. Didn't you see the write up on hondatech about how nothing was torqued or even tightened inside, and that the quality was way less than the quaife. Its a no brainer, why would it only be 300 if it was the same as quaife. Your saying that just because of a name they charge 500 more dollars. I think not. You get what you pay for, but if want to put an OBX in your tranny, by all means dont let anyone stop you. But when your tranny breaks in a week or so, dont say noone told you so. (not talking directly to you popnfrizzle)

i read the entire post on honda tech as a matter of fact and it is quite informative.
even with untorqued bolts i still have yet to hear of an obx lsd failing. which can only lead me to believe that simply taking it apart and torquing everything down would lessen the incredibly small chance of the lsd failing.

again, i have not found a single story of an obx lsd harming someone's car or transmission of thousands that have sold....

im with pop-n-fresh on this one. My EJ1 is going to be boosted soon and shortly after I plan on getting the OBX lsd. I have also not seen or heard of any problems with them, and for $350 you cant really beat it.

Alright, who am I to tell you what to buy...eh, good luck with it. I know I sure wouldnt waste 350 on it. Saving for another month you'd have something that you KNOW works. I know tons of people with quaifes, and I know none with OBX.

quaife comes with a warranty

lets just think of it this way todd....all I want to do right now is hit 12's....and I could do that with a simple dyno tune right now instead of paying twice that to get lsd....and lsd can always come later
