I am actually old school in my thought process. I was talking to Roli Delgado about this same thing about a month again. He said the most important thing in fighting is getting the W no matter what. I disagree the most important thing to me is that you get the finish. I believe in the finish.
depends on your training.. and ONLY that.. I have trained under Miletich Fighting Systems for a few years? now.. and I ALSO do knife stick empty hand combatives classes under instruction from Cardo Urso.. he helped develop the Marine Corp Martial Arts Program.... just saying.. ONE is sport in which the focus is to WIN at a specific type of sport fighting.. the point of the other is to LIVE and thus FINISH the fight.. you may agree to disagree, but I have always viewed these two practices as completely different.. the point of MMA is to operate within a given set of guidelines and win the fight.. that is what you are paid to do.. a finish is nice.. but a win is what will gain you progress towards fighting for a belt, and thus being as successful as you can be at the job that you do.. just saying..

bottom line... its a fighting organization, no matter how much damage is shown, each punch landed is a point in the judges eyes. Silva won by catching an arm, it happens. It was a good fight that Silva would have lost on the card, but he didn't let it go that far.

alot of people neglect to realize that MMA is relatively new in the main steam, and the judges for the most part at these evens are boxing judges here in the states.. so punches/kicks add up on the card, even if massive damage isn't done.

I would like to see a rematch of this fight with Ed Herman as the ref. He at least lets there be 2-3 taps before he will stop it, to let the speculations to rest.

Are you seriously going to question a guy that has jiujitsu as his username and has since the early 2000's? Okay, you know what really sucks about MMA being so big is that people that have never been on a mat or in a fight are experts. They think since they have watched 20 ufcs that they are experts. Please review this material as Sonnen obviously tapped to the arm being extended as he had already defended the triangle attempt by Anderson Silva.

So in review you should now know that you don't extend to finish a triangle you extend to finish an arm. Sonnen tapped to the arm.

Quick question...the word Siclone(cyclone) is in my name..Does that make me an expert in tornadoes??

I was hammered when I was watchin the fight, so I'll admit that he did extend the arm.

You need to relax a bit. I've been around for a while. I don't have the time for the training, so yes, if you need to toot your own horn, you are going to know more about it than I do.

Just understand circumstances b4 that piehole starts floppin. I understand all aspects of the game and have for quite a few years now. Nor am I a recent fan. I watch all promotions from all over the world and have been in competition myself. Just don't have the time anymore.

Relax dude.....

About finishing fights, obviously that is the goal in a fight. What makes it a sport is the structure and point system. Do what you have to do to WIN...if you finish it, it's just that much better.

I have no idea what your name means. I just think its funny that guys think that since they watch fights they know what is up. Especially if you are trying to give an opinion when you are a drunk retard. But hey Im glad you are a fan. Fighters need more money. Thanks for supporting the sport.

All I know is this fight was a shocker and huge disappointment. Silva is an amazing fighter non the less and I'm a huge of MMA. I took training for GJJ myself years ago.

But I am ready to see Silva get his ass kicked and I thought it was going to happen then the turn around in the last round blew me away.

WTF. Still not sure if he was actually tapping or slapping. He was in a shitty situation which was going to be really hard to escape.

a fight between nelson and carwin would be a huge joke. frank mir has already said he wont even waste his time to fight nelson. im not sure who they will put him against next. sonnen definitely tapped or i think you would have seen alot more of argument from him about the fight stopping. cant wait for them rematch though.

Gracie Jiujitsu is usually referring to the self defense art of Jiu-Jitsu.

I guess Frank Mir thought Shane Carwin would be a waste of time too and look what happened to him.

mir's head wasnt in that fight or something. he admitted that. that fight was horrible for him. he is way better than what that fight shows. nelson isnt really that great IMO. i dont see why after he beat struve he jumped all the way in the top 4 of his weight class without fighting some of the others in it.
