it doesnt look bad at all.. makes your bars look beefier than what they are. My friend has it on his autopower and it looks nice
plus safety too!
plus safety too!
He said cage, so I was talking about a cage, not a roll bar.itsmycookie said:for a full out cage yes that;d be recomended, but just for a roll bar its not needed. the bar is behind you you;re not going to hit your head on it. it;d be like saying u need special harnesses since u could technically hit your head against the B pillar.
see... its really not an issue with just a roll bar, the only way u;d need safety equipment was if u have a full cage that when in along the sides of u as well.
I believe that is oc_civic's car in that pic actually. Though I think itsmycookie migth have one too... not sure.PEARLelectron said:You really should put padding around that roll bar though,
How is that a "fake tuck" he removed his battery, his fusebox... plus tucked alot of wires . thats a pretty serious tuck...NOFX said:He said cage, so I was talking about a cage, not a roll bar.
And that is the only car I've seen with a fake wire tuck that looks decent at all. I'd like to look more up close though, where did you reroute the wiring?

what do u mean fake?NOFX said:And that is the only car I've seen with a fake wire tuck that looks decent at all. I'd like to look more up close though, where did you reroute the wiring?

Actually, a true wire tuck involves making a new wire harness (or rather, cutting some wires to a shorter length and exending other wires). The new harness should be cut into a sort of trident shape and go through the front fenders and the rear of the engine.PEARLelectron said:wire tucking is just what it is.. tucking wires....
What.. thats just stupid.... Wire tucking is tucking wires.... which then sometimes involves shortening the harness.... a tucked bay is a tucked bay.....NOFX said:Actually, a true wire tuck involves making a new wire harness (or rather, cutting some wires to a shorter length and exending other wires). A tucked bay doesn't just mean hiding your wires underneath stuff though. It does involve extending and trimming wires. A cleaner tuck involves shaving too.PEARLelectron said:What.. thats just stupid.... Most of the "wire tucks" I've seen on here involve pushing wires under other stuff in a poor attempt to hide at least some of that wire. That is why I call them fake wire tucks. Most of the wire tucks I've seen on here don't look any cleaner than stock unless you get a before and after pic and concentrate on it, looking for what's different in the two photos.
here noob sit down lol. Taking your head light wires and hiding them under something isnt and shouldnt be classed as a 'wire tuck' as NOFX has stated when you undergo the job of doing a wire tuck, you will indeed need to re-route things like the battery, fuse box, lenghen and shorten the harnesses etc.PEARLelectron said:ok.. .but there are different degree of tucks... I agree the tucks on here are pretty weak... but i dont see why you HAVE to shorten or lengthen the wires if you dont have to... The only reason people shorten or lengthen the wires is to either reroute the wires in a longer route or a shorter route.... Hiding the wires in any way possible is tuck..... there is no "fake" tuck....
Do you know the bays I'm talking about that have been posted here though? I'd rather not go find one and post it because I'm not trying to insult any particular person.PEARLelectron said:ok.. .but there are different degree of tucks... oh i know exactly what your talking about and agree....NOFX said:Do you know the bays I'm talking about that have been posted here though? I'd rather not go find one and post it because I'm not trying to insult any particular person.
I mean, the cars I'm talking about still have filthy engine bays, and just minimal wires hidden even. You look at it and it's like, "That's a wire tuck? How? What has changed?"
you labeled his as a fake tuck too but oo wellNOFX said:I'm talking about other ones on here. I believe this might be the first time I've ever seen his car that tucked (if at all). The way things have gone ni the past, I just lump all of the tucks on CC into "fake tucks" as I described because I never remembered seeing anything done decently.
not fighting, just clearing up some confusionrecall said:wait wait.. are we all fighting over what hiding your engine wires means? ... people are retarded
guess you guys dont know what it takes to relocate and hide a battery/fuse box. let alone most of the other wires.....Sundown said:I dont know if this has been said, but there are "minor" wire tucks and "full" wire tucks..
Cookie's is a minor.. Imo, that's what I would do if i had the time
why are u being so technical? seriously. if u take the front harness off the car the slack u get from it weaving all through the bay is enough to run it through the fenders. i unwrapped all the wires and re wrapped them after i had them going where i wanted to. would u stop with the "fake tuck" crap? just because i didn;t do it the real way doesn;t mean its fake. like my fake ctr style grill that is really expanded sheet metal and not a real grill at all... its stupid.NOFX said:Actually, a true wire tuck involves making a new wire harness (or rather, cutting some wires to a shorter length and exending other wires).
