so your looking for a PDA/smartphone?

personally, id recommend the blackberry tour. it has the new OS so its much more user friendly, you dont have to be a blackberry vet to understand how to use it. also, its super light and it has an actual keyboard so you dont have to mess around with the touch screen. it may be a little tricky to use if you have bigger fingers tho.

I sold phones for a number of years and I have experienced just about everything you can with them. The HTC series are great phones for the upscale class businessman but for anything else they are quite a pain in the ass to work on. The Palm Pré is a great phone, and if I stay with sprint, I will be upgrading to this phone since I have been due for an upgrade for quite a while. The Pré has a very even touch flo system and the full keyboard is a great addition to that. Most of the HTC series is fully touch and it takes away from the effectiveness of texting and such. I also agree though with the Blackberry suggestion too. They have a new upgraded OS that is fun and easy to use compared to Blackberry's past. The full keyboard is nice but in my experience most Blackberry's don't have Wi-Fi and require you to get a data package in order to use the internet. The Pré has built in Wi-Fi and has a very nice, computer like internet presentation.

Cliffs

Don't go HTC, go Palm Pré, check out Blackberry.

i've had nothing but HTC phones for the last 7 years

please, tell me how they're a pain in the ass..... because from where i'm sitting, htc is second to none... and that includes crapberry phones

also, touchscreen only phones make up the less than 1/3rd of HTC's lineup. The majority of their phones have full textile keyboards combined with a touch screen

Personally, I"m waiting for the tilt2 to come out.
I never hesitate to recommend HTC phones.

For you, I"d recommend the HTC Touch Pro 2

I'm fully aware of the lineup that HTC presents. If you read what he originally posted instead of being a jackass like you usually are, he was looking at an HTC hero which is uh, yah, a touch screen phone. :retard:

I know he mentioned the touch pro, which in fact has a full keyboard, but is older than dirt in phone years. The new touch pro 2 is cool if you like windows OS and paying $350 for an upgrade.

I don't have a problem HTC like you seem to think I do. I had HTC phones for the majority of my tenure selling phones. I don't believe I said anything negative besides that they are a pain in the ass to work on, which they are. I also mentioned that most of their phones are touch screen, which you confirmed with your smartass remark about how only 1/3 of them are touch screen but most of them are keyboard touch screen combo. Duh. That doesn't negate my statement that most of the line has touch screen. :retard: The touch flo on the touch pro isn't all that great and almost every other HTC phone that is touch screen is not very easy to work with unless you have a minute to sit down and use it.

But hey, don't take my advice. $lickRick knows everything, like usual. Go with the phone that's going to break the bank and probably irritate you more than not.

I wasnt responding to his post, I was responding to yours... which was wrong

Most of the HTC series is fully touch and it takes away from the effectiveness of texting and such.
Most of their phones have keyboards. Explain how the touchscreen makes the textile keyboard less effective.
And again, only a small portion of their lineup is "fully touch". You're just plain wrong.

I don't believe I said anything negative besides that they are a pain in the ass to work on, which they are.
And the only question I asked was....... HOW are they a pain in the ass?
I'm still waiting for the answer.

lets look at your statement.

The Pré has a very even touch flo system and the full keyboard is a great addition to that. Most of the HTC series is fully touch and it takes away from the effectiveness of texting and such.
they both have keyboards, but somehow having a touchscreen as well " takes away from the effectiveness of texting and such."
You also said that most of their lineup was "fully touch", which is wrong. I negated your comment by proving how wrong you are.

Your statement was made out of ignorance.

It's as easy and as quick as any other phone. Texting is the main reason i went to the HTC lineup of phones. I send ~50 texts a day and wanted something well suited for texting.

That's the smartest thing you've said in this thread

Outside of the fact that you're still a complete idiot, he's absolutely right. Go spend $350 on a touch pro 2 that the touch flo system doesn't quite work all that well on. Also go buy it because it's gigantic screen is barely supported by the hardware it has built in a enjoy your mobile video in a very slow, beat up fashion.

But don't listen to me, listen to $lickRick. He even posted a few articles with comments from users of the phone. Such as this one;

run the nav on this handset it lags like crazy as does video. the hardware is not strong enough for that 400x800 screen. put the advocates at sprint though the paces first.
Sprint's pricing on this is only so that the business account buyers who will get it for $200 feel like they are getting a good discount. Just like they can get a pal pro for $50. only suckers will pay the $350.
Listen to $lickRick. The guy that sells used cars for a living is giving advice on cell phones, a product that he doesn't sell.

That's all I am going to say in this thread. I'm not going to get banned for the same reason others get banned haggling with him; he gets under their skin.

Good luck in your phone search, hopefully you don't spend an outrageous amount of money a phone you're not satisfied with. And remember, go try them out first, don't let us make a hasty decision for you.

and yet I still know more than you

guess that's why you "used" to sell phones :ok:
Giving customers B.S. info will catch up to you eventually

All I did was correct the false information you were trying to spread, you chose to respond with profanities and name calling.

Dont try to blame your overreaction on me, son ;)

well today i was messinga round on my brothers HTC touch PRO... it is an awesome phone... its not activated casue the keyboard stopped working... but i was browsing the web and everything else with it cause it had wifi.

to me... the HTC phones seem just like an ipod touch.... but with the benefits of having a phone. something the iphone doesnt seem to have. (wifi)

so the app store isnt as vast as the iphone... but i think that the HTC is as close as im gonna get to an iphone without changing carriers...

right now im on my families plan where at the moment i have a rumor2 and only pay what it is for the extra line... $10 bux..

if i get the new phone that wil require getting the everything data plan... in which they have some new ones... they have the one where its any mobile any time.... its the simply everything plan... but if you call a land line... you get charged minutes. which to us... is no big deal... everyone we know has cell phones.

and the price is CHEAP compared to the normal...

the family plan for 1500 shared min is 129.99... for 2 lines..

i am line 3... and it adds 19.99...

so my part of the bill will go up by 10 bux... the overall bill will go up like 50 bux.... and making my parents eat the remaining 30.. in which... they are also due for upgrades and one is seriously considering the same phone as me and the other is considering the PRE.

i am extremely unhappy with my Rumor2... its a piece of garbage. and a HUGE downgrade from my previous phone.. i had a Voyager through verizon..

funny part is... my parents opened a new line for me 2 months ago... for some reason.. sprint.com says i have a full upgrade coming to me. so does the guy in sprint store..

i got my phone second hand... so im thinking thats why i have the upgrade. i bettertake advantage of it while its still thier fault.

Can you use additional rebates when buying the phone?
I have a friend at sprint that knows a few ways to knock a few additional bucks off of most phones.

I'll talk to him tonight.

It's really no skin off of his back, I dont see why he'd have any problem doing it.

Typing this on an HTC hero. Its not mine but I get to check it out. Typing id gonna take some getting used to. But i think after a few hours online with it i could get the hang of it. It has an auto recognize feature that if you mess up a word it will fix it for you... kind of like spellcheck. If you do misspell something...it will show up Orange
