i have a 01 integra with a b18b1 non vtec, i was wondering how can i convert it to vtec and what all parts do i need, this is probly a stupid question to everyone but i just got into this car scene.

a cylinder head that comes with vtec would be the easiest way to do this.

you'll need a ecu that accepts vtec. then you'll need wiring which is how the ecu and vtec system will talk to each other.

yes,

the difference between the base engines and their VTEC counterparts is strictly in the components and operation of the valve train. the engine block, oiling, and cooling systems are identical, as are all attached components
so, cylinder head, ecu, and wiring. :thumbup:

i my opinion, wiring will be the hardest, lol. personally, im not good with wiring/electricity

sorry for all the questions but can it be any b series vtec head or does it have to be a b18 vtec head?

any B vtcseries, but once you start mix matching between liter sizes, your going to also affect compression.

B18a/b and B18c blocks arent identical. B18c's have the oil squirters, and a better girdle than B18a/b's. I believe the B18a/b's have a taller deck height/longer rod length, too. Hence why the GSR's can rev higher than the LS's.

sorry no i havnt heard of club integra MYBAD and yeah it is a gsr but the moron who had it before me blew the motor and could only afford a b18b1 and what does it matter to all of you im just a guy looking for some help no reason to be dicks about it.

hmm, so a B18B with a GSR ECU.. well, u have the ECU im guessing, just take the head off the GSR and use that.. Throw on some ARP rob bolts and send it for tuning.

Thats AFTER you get the conversion kit. ARP headstuds and new HG would be beneficial as well.


As far as being dicks, theres too many noobs on here that are either too lazy to search or want to be spoon fed information by the guys who have done their homework. These cars are 10+ years old which means 10+ years of info out there referencing just about every nut and bolt on the car.
