Sudan is not even close to South Africa. Hell, it's not even in the southern part of Africa.

from an optimistic point of view: assuming the govt will do its duties and spend the whole 10 billion on the project, then it is a 10 billion INTO the sudanese economy. The 10 billion will multiply (money multiplier) and the output will be even greater ( 1-10x the initial input). this investment would create jobs. jobs = income. i think its a good idea. This was sort of like our 50's when we built the suburbs and the highways. production= growth. source? im econ major : ]

f**ken stupid, these people do not know the first thing about urban planning or architecture. This type of design keeps coming back everytime and it fails in so many ways. First of all, the layout is all whacked out, the fastest way for transportation is a grid system. second, buildings need to be design based on pattern of the sun. Some houses will be dark, cold and murky while others will be over brightened with sunlight and heat. This is not innovated at all! People are stupid if they think this is going to be a hip place to live. Notice, if you live there you dont ever see you live in a giraffe. You only see it from above.

on a positive side, if juba was a slum, this will indeed be a huge upgrade. Too bad they couldnt afford a well known urban planner or architect to design their slums.

*Our world is increasing its population and eventually available land will deplete. The smart way to design now is High density and Mix use projects in combination with an increase of public transportation, more metros, and a decrease the use of car. Also, throw in Sustainability.

If you want to see a hip place to live, and they are paving a new future is DUBAI.
