:thumbs up: I didn't even pay attention to the case at all to begin with and still don't (except for this link because i was interested in what the "fuss" was about). Everything I said is just addressing the fact that they are doing something that anyone can do, skew perspective and information.

On another note, when are you getting the Miata? you should get an ae ;)
Well I have 500$ saved up and I'm getting some money back from school after paying for tuition, so I won't have it until maybe next summer. I'd love to get an AE, but I can't seem to find one for a decent price in good condition.

Next summer? Quite the while from now. Im guessing you see them for around 5k? How about the miatas?

what are the reasons for getting the Miata and the ones for an Ae86
NA Miata:
1. RWD
2. Lightweight
3. Convertible (not bad when 300 days are sunny and hot here in south Texas).
4. I like the looks of it.
AE86:
1. RWD
2. Hatchback(can seat more than 2 people).
3. Lightweight
4. I like the looks of it.
5. Can swap a 2jz into it easier than the Miata.
I'm pretty torn between the two. I need to do more research on each one in order to make a more informed decision.

Its all dependant on what you are trying to get out of the car. Have you watched initial d? That will answer which car to get right there.

Basing a decision of what car to buy off of some show is just stupid. Animated at that, is retarded.

1) the reasons given aren't enough to choose. You need to do In-Depth research ie ratios, stats, trouble shooting etc. In order to really know what you want; you have to know what you are getting in to and whether or not it will satisfy you.

2)I would rule out the possibility of swapping a 2jz. If it will take you until next summer to buy either, how do you plan to pull of all the fabrication and installation monetarily? given your situation it would most likely be a long long long build. which isn't exciting and can end your enthusiasm due to how much time you will spend on waiting to finish. The main attraction these are both given aren't for their power, it is for their: balance, suspension, and handling. Placing a 2jz would eliminate the complete character of either car. At best it can be a dd/track car, but will never be the ae everyone loves. It's a great concept, but the "stuff" that makes those cars "it" will be gone. There are many other swaps that you can do instead of that engine and you would get greater results and keep the character. Maybe not 1000hp but with certain engines, you can get to 300-500 hp and that is more than enough power for these lightweights.

That's true. With that said more research needs to be done, but since it can wait I'm going swimming with my girl right now.

Do Not base it on this animation. I know of the ae86 because ive read into Keichi Tsuchiya and Nobuteru Taniguchi, take a look at what they have to say. They have been driving these for years and way before the animation, they are one of the reasons why the hachiroku is so known
