Motorcycles are inherently dangerous, but what isn't these days? You can't live your life in fear of what COULD happen. You never know. What kind of life would that be? Living in constant fear of doing anything fun because it's dangerous. I'm all for minimizing risk, but not at the expense of your happiness. I guess just try not to make any rash decisions. These people love you. I'm sure they'll come around eventually.
Riding a motorcycle on public streets, especially in a busy ass town like seattle is in such a different category it is not even funny. The statistics behind motorcycle deaths in general are astronomical. Why do you think the insurance rates are through the roof? If they were just as dangerous as "everything else" the insurance would be the same price as insuring your civic.

No they won't come around and if they really love her, why would they? The main reason I am getting rid of my motorcycle is because I am tired of my loved ones being scared to death every time I head out. Why put them through that every time for just a toy?

I'm just pissed off that I'm a grown woman and I apparently can't make my own decisions. I also am a people pleaser (to those I love and my clients) so I really don't like people being mad.
Yes, you can make your own decisions. One of them needs to be thinking deep if you want to put your loved ones through the fear everytime you ride because if they really care they will be worried every single time.

My mom has been scared to death since I started riding street at 20. I just realized within the last couple years that I love her more than I love the riding and unless I am going to fork over the money to ride track only, the motorcycle is going away.

I guarantee you once the "status" wears off and people stop giving you the attention of having a sport bike you will start to see the bigger picture if you have loved ones that really do care about you.

Well was dead set on air and wheels but I'm starting to look at small houses in town now in the 75-100k range. Not sure what I want to do though
Not that I don't want to do the same thing with my VR6 but I would be all over the house if I had to decide between the 2.

I understand the risk and danger of riding. And I do understand that the people I love and the people that love me are worried for my safety. I get that. I also understand this is probably just a phase that I'll go through and I'll grow out of. But I'm not commuting to the downtown Seattle that most people know. My shop has moved to the industrial area of Seattle and is a LOT less congested. I also commute outside of rush hour (well, at least the tail end of it). If I was commuting to downtown where I used to be, I would definitely think twice.
And what "status" is it that you're talking about? I'm not doing this to get any sort of attention, or join biker clubs. I am doing this for my own enjoyment. I have my friends that ride also, and I want to be able to go do fun group rides. I also want to have a hobby Matt and I can share together (since we keep our car hobbies pretty separate).

I have driven through and delivered to almost every mile of seattle that is reachable by road. Unless you are riding out in the country somewhere or up in the mountains, it is extremely dangerous (even then its dangerous, just less traffic to deal with). Other drivers, especially those up north in a busy city like seattle don't care for motorcycle riders nor do they want them sharing the road. Especially sportbike riders. There is no where in seattle that is safe to ride, period. Some worse than others, but all still have too much traffic to have to contend with. There is absolutely no way your brain can keep track of everything needed to stay completely safe riding in a city like that.

Haha love this thanks option. Obviously you can make your own decisions otherwise you would have to be a vegetable. Having heard from many motorcyclists the question of if you are going to have a wreck is near obsolete. The main real questions are when it will happen and how bad.

Save up for a house with some land negro

I want to move out by April. Big difference between 20 percent for a 80k house and 220k house lol

My thoughts were to buy a cheap one to start since idk what I want exactly and once it's paid off I'll rent it out. If not I'll be paying 450 to rent an apartment

I paid $100 for them with good tires. I would've paid more just to get tires for the fat fives. Plus, I'm gonna be working more this semester.

Anyone ever swap front shocks/struts/springs on a 2003 Jetta?
Depending on difficulty like special tools, might be doing the job for this girl at work to save her $350+

Interwebs is too busy to grab some more movies
and come home to see a deputy has dropped off a subpoena for me as a witness
Because everyone is pissed off that I have it, and my boyfriend and I keep fighting about me riding it to work. This is f***ing stupid, and I just might as well sell it. What's the point in buying a bike when I can't take it to work once in a while?
There's always someone else out there, someone who will appreciate the things you do/love.

Once I move south, I plan on getting a bike or two...and they're opening a Tesla store down there so I'll let you know when to move down.

Cary, do those require the key to get the shock out of the lower fork?
