I have a 1991 Honda Civic DX and it currently has a D16A6 swapped into it the 88-91' Civic Si/CRX Si motor. My hatchy is legit it kicks really hard and I couldn't be happier for what I have. It has strong 2nd and 3rd gears when I down shift thats for sure. I am looking to get some more power though. I want more punch from my hatchy. I was thinking about an ebay turbo kit? or maybe doing a v-tech conversion to a B20? (if possible I heard it is). I have been told my car will fly if I drop a turbo into it but not sure what to do. Any advice on what I can do would be appreciated.

Thanks.

aha word. just f**k it up and get a b series, or just get a b series now instead of wasting money on a turbo kit for your d. then boost the b

My first question is why would you actually take the time and money to swap a lil 108hp engine? It's 10HP or so over the stock DX engine... you could have done CAI, Header and exhaust and been at the same spot. Especially since you could have got a D16Z6 for probably around the same price which starts at 125hp or for around the same price you could have done a nice lil Mini-Me...

You have many options. (its a frickin HONDA)

Boost the D16A6 (put a Y8 intake mani) Buddy of mine put down 225 on 10PSI.

D16A6 block and a SOHC VTEC head. (Mini me)

B16A (or any other VTEC B for that matter)

B20VTEC (B20 block GSR/B16 head.)

B18B1/A1 and boost

B18A1/B1 and B16 or B18C head. (LS/Vtec)

H22A (hard to find.)

H2D (H22A with D series transmission youll need a conversion kit. GOOGLE IT)

H2B (same as above but a B series transmission)

Anything you swap youll need a cable transmission.

Honestly, the D16A6 has the best cam profile for the non Vtec SOHC

With a Y8 intake manifold (or TYPE R of the D series world.) you can make some POWER.

GOOD LUCK

easy option is to go turbo. not worth it imo to do a mini-me. it'll cost you around $800-$1000 to do a B20 swap depending on if you can find deals or not.

A friend on mine told me to try that on my Z6... what exactly would that cam do for my car if it deletes the VTEC lobe.
