It's remarkable how many people don't know what bands are from the 70's the 80's and the 90's
Yehh... I guess, once it's "old skool", people just lose all sense of time...
A lot of music/ songs/ bands I saw named off, were from early-90s
Myself, I didn't really start paying attention to bands until I got older, early-90s, when I was listening to New Kids on the Block
As far as 80s, I know A LOT of 80s songs, just can't recall artist....

Re: Hip Hop
My earliest recollection of hip hop was 3rd-grade playground, listening to some 5th grade boy sing LL's "Goin Back to Cali" and A LOT of Beastie Boys, but other than that, everything was early-90s....
All of my old skool hip hop (Public Enemy, "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back",oldest album I own), I didn't actually buy DURING the 80s, but was a result of me "doing my homework" and knowin the "Forefathers-of-Hip-Hop" becoz Hip Hop elitists are not too fond of newjacks.
