Wheel size?

Can I put F 215/17/40 and R 245/17/40 wheels on for the hell of it? They're coming from my Mr2.

What is the purpose of wider tires on the rear of Civics. I can't seem to figure out this trend...

Care to give a little info on the suspension setup? Also, offsets?

I imagine the front could be ok, the rear will probably rub.

If they fit then yes you can. Just try it

Your biggest issue will be bolt pattern

If that lines up, then your next hurdle would be offsets

If that lines up, you can put them on, but it's probably going to look dumb as Honda didn't design the Civic to run a staggered setup

Depending on offset you may need spacers, especially for the rear.
