I was in the first grade.
I was just about to go to school when this happened. Surprisingly, I remember every part of it. I remember the 2nd plane hitting, and I was watching CNN with my mom in the living room. She was making me breakfast, and I was just in shock watching TV. I don't think I was too aware of what was happening, but today, I defiantly know. I remember watching the towers collapse and watching people jump out of the towers onto the ground. Dust and debris was everywhere, and people were covered with it.. cars, buildings, people.. you name it.. it was covered.
After reading your post, this scene popped in my head.

Officer Michaels: I often go to sleep and dream of waking up in a world where everything's covered in semen.

Heard it on the radio - was driving across Canada at the time... was in the middle of driving across the top of Lake Superior in northern Ontario. Furthest thing from civilization. Radio reception was sporadic so didn't hear much except when in the small towns. Felt pretty safe though, being in the middle of nowhere.

Little late on this thread... But like most I was in my 6th grade english class... We watched it in every class I went too. The whole day we did not learn what was suppose to be taught, we talked about the attack.

I was working... going from one job site to the other.... I had it on Howard Stern but I had the volume low... I thought I heard Howard say, "We're under attack! I repeat, we're under attack!" so I turned the volume up and started to hear what was going on. I called my wife and she was home at the time with my baby daughter to tell her to change it to the news. She already was watching what was going on and she actually seen the 2nd plane hit the tower live on tv.

I was filled with rage and wanted to kill every f**king rag head I seen.... luckily there wasn't many around my area!

Jesus I feel really old.

I was a senior in HS, driving to school and listening to the radio for once instead of cd's. I got to school, they had channel 1 on, dismissed us, I went to a friend's house and was glued to the TV all day.
