which head unit???

i just got a free car, so im takin the cd player (pioneer deh-1500) from the accord and puttin it in there, and gettin a new radio in the accord. im choosing between the alpine 9851, or the pioneer 7700 mp. i dont need any of the stuff on these radios, but i like them.

the one im lookin into for my needs is the alpine 9847. cd changer controls, mp3/wma playback, 3 set of 2 volt outputs...

i've had many returns at work for the alpines 9851, 9853, and 9855, so im sketchy about them. please give me your opinions.

Alpine is the hot shite right now.

Never really liked Pioneer because years ago they had bad controls. Tiny little buttons with vague descriptions printed above them like RYZ. What the hell does RYZ do? They look much better now but Alpine still looks like it has better controls.

I got a Kenwood because I got a great deal on it. Sound quality is good but I would have liked a few more features.

I got a Kenwood because I got a great deal on it. Sound quality is good but I would have liked a few more features.

the new kenwoods are hot, but they got this swivel knob that looks too weak and annoys the hell outa me when tryin to switch stations. the pioneer 7700 is a really great unit with a lot of controls for your music, good outputs, and screensavers. the alpines have problems wit the motorized faces just freezing up and dying, so im afraid of that s**t. i might go wit the 9847 just b/c its simple with just the basic stuff i need. when i get my own car, the one i wanna work on, then i can go all out and get a pioneer in dash tv for half the price.

I've got a Kenwood eXcelon X789. That button you're talking about is a bit annoying, but I love the display and it works great with my system.

i've always liked pioneer radios, but i wanted to try alpine cuz it's supposed to be one of the best. out of expierience, they aint all that great.

i dont sell panasonic at work (best buy) so thats not an option. but i've seen their head units and their pretty damn nice.

i know bro... but i just thought u guys had some valid points i havent thought of. i guess i'll just go wit the alpine, cuz she wants the alpine changer too... but thats for later down the road. i gotta get 4 spks in that b***h fast. its got polk audios, but they blown. puttin rockford punch series...

I have a Clarion, had it for 2 1/2 years now swapped between 3 cars. Not a single problem with it... if you HAD to choose between the two though, i'd pick Alpine. Pioneer's headunits goto s**t just like all their other components *but thats just my opinion*
