I have a single 10Akiahara96 said:I'm in love with my system. I'm not saying a single 10 doesn't sound good, but it's not my type of thing...

it's amusing to poke fun.. 'cuz I'm the girl with the big woofers... hahahaha.
I don't care either... mine sounds yummy inside the car.Beelzebubba said:I have a single 10
Sounds good to me...who cares what they hear outside my car.

True, my single 10" shakes the car plenty before I start to get a headache.Beelzebubba said:I have a single 10

... right, 'cuz ported boxes are more efficient. not.h23civichb said:I never said you had to put a low wattage sub in a sealed box. If you read harder, you will realize that I said said don't put a high wattage sub into a sealed box. It will make the amount of power you need to push a lot harder to achieve. If you use a lower wattage sub in a sealed box, the sub will require more wattage but since it is a low wattage sub, achieving the recommended amount won't be as hard or expensive. BAM.

I have no problem with my sealed box. of course, I don't have shitty overrated woofers. Mine get about 500 watts a piece... in a sealed enclosure... with no problem.
I believe you have the way boxes work backwards.
he said don't put a high wattage woofer in a sealed box... that doesn't make much sense.PAguy said:actually, he is partially correct. a subwoofer will be able to handle more power in a sealed enclosure, and ported enclosures are generally more efficient. I prefer the sound of a sealed enclosure to any ported enclosure I have ever built or heard though.........

maybe I should have phrased that better. properly built & tuned it's more efficient... but still takes more power to perform. vicious cycle, I suppose.
Maybe it's just my lack of acquaintances who are into audio at all... but even at the shows I've been to around here... there haven't been many systems that actually made sense - either in their design or equipment. Like the assclown with two Kicker 18s... running something like 2000w total when those woofers want 2000 a piece. He just sticks out in my head 'cuz at the competition we competed in, he's standing next to his ghetto fabulous Suburban screaming "My s**t is awesome.. who else has two 18s?" Even the guys at the store were like... "that dude is a moron.
End story time.
well it's okay if you can defend him. he should learn to put things the way he means them then... not saying "don't put a high powered woofer in a sealed box" 'cuz that's assinine... some are made for a sealed enclosure. but I'm sure you know that already.PAguy said:I am not coming to his defense by any means, but I think its possible that he was referencing the fact that many high power subwoofers today are also designed primarily for ported enclosures....
as for the retard with the solox 18s, if he had it for a daily system, 1000 per sub would be fine, because I have a feeling from the way you are talking he had a stock charging system anyway... I am sure it got decently loud off of that (for daily) probably 147-148 on a TL?
