Hey guys I just recently Bought my 98 Honda civic, and well to me its not pulling enough torque in any of the gears. it has a Cold air intake in it but it just the tip of it. So it doesn't have the Tubing for the Intake. I also have a After Market Exhaust. So I'm honestly thinking I need the Cold air Intake Tube to flow more.

You don't have torque because it wasn't built for power. It is for GAS MILEAGE.

Intake isn't going to get you anything but a change in sound.

Boost or swap if you want power.

Is it a stick or an automatic?

My automatic 95 civic ex wouldn't even bark the tires off the line. It was pathetic. It was like driving a go kart. My 96 civic is equally slow but with the added advantage of being a stick shift I can pop the clutch and rev higher for maximum power.

But yeah it's a civic not a Ferrari. Enjoy your 30+ mpg and buy a bike if you want to feel power.

This.

Like the saying goes: there is no replacement for displacement. No matter how much power your car makes, it will always have less torque than horsepower. It's the nature of most 4 cylinder engines (notice I said most).

You can throw every bolt-on modification you want onto your car and it won't do much, especially if it's a D-Series. The best way to make decent power is nitrous, turbo, or supercharger. Or buy something else.

If that's what he means, OP you better put it back on ASAP or you won't even be driving the car pretty soon.

Its a d16y8 if its the stock motor. It may have vtec, but it is still a d series motor. Which your not gunna have torque or honestly much power out of it. Swap it or boost it if u want that.
