So should I go with the heat shield? Or without? I'm kinda leaning towards with.

Shouldnt make a difference in performance but it does make it look nasty with the oem header looking all rusted. Id leave it on.

^ I agree, only time it looks cool with out the shield is when it's a aftermarket header.

oh I wasn't wondering if it would do anything for performance, I just want everyone's opinions on the look of it

Not to make fun of ya or anything. My friend thought it would be good to take them off one day on his 97 dx hatch. I have never seen them off before but have seen them off with my ex. Looks nothing close to the dx's. My reaction was that s**t looked like tree roots. It was horrible looking and it was more redder than yours.

Then he sprayed it with really high temp silver paint.

Maybe you should do that to get rid of the red rust color.

I might do that but won't bother til I make the decision to leave it on or take it off

Definitely with the heat shield til you get an aftermarket header.

To tell you the truth, id just leave it on till you grab yourself a nice header. Youll forget those rustys are in your garage afterwards.

either clean the stock headers off or leave the heald on. my opinion is just to get aftermarket headers and keep em nice and shiny.

it wouldnt look too bad without the shield if your header wasnt all haggard...it probbly wouldnt look too bad if you sprayed them black...but if your not gonna paint them, then def. leave the shield on

Just wait and save to about $120 to get an obx header or something. Theyre not usually expensive and install it yourself.

see the problem is that you can't just replace the headers... the headers and cat are one piece on that car... therefore if you replace the headers (go with an ex header setup) you also have to buy a new cat. and extend the o2 sensor. damn dx,lx,hx motors... i run into s**t like that all the time with mine

yes you do have to do all that...that is if you want to stay legal. I plan on doing that anyway. When I had my exhaust done I was dumb and had aluminized steel put on for the piping. Well around here you deal with rust so I'm gonna have to be replacing that soon. Might do the header, cat and custom piping done then.

taking the heatshield off will lower your performance by heating up the air inside the engine bay, leave it on unless you coat your exhaust man. in a high tmp. paint or get aftermarket ones
