I'm sure it's there for a reason...just like the heat shield that was under my shifter protecting it from the exhaust pipe. But I've never had trouble with it since I took that off

^^agreed, excactly what iwould have said. that goldish cover would look sweet against a black heat sheild i think. if u dont paint it still leave the sheild on or polish the header up.

taking the heatshield off will lower your performance by heating up the air inside the engine bay

ive had mine off for a while, and i didnt notice any difference in performance. i think its just the so stupid people checking there oil dotn burn their fingers off.
