Great Audio Set up?

First post -- (Site looks fantastic)

I recently just bought a '99 SI and it's still in factory audio. I'm looking to do better this time around in my audio set up, but I don't know exactly what to look for?

Can I get any suggestions on the speakers, subwoofers, and AMP? What would complement one another very well? The headunit isn't a concern.

Looking to stay at a decent price range, but not exactly limited.

Thanks guys. =)

Components up front, aftermarket rears, 5-Channel Kicker amp, 10/12" Kicker Solobaric in the back, and you are set...that is what I did...

a radio and aftermarkets all around......subs just add too much weight and no one cares to hear you coming 4 blocks away anymore. but your car.

i suggest getting a crutchfield mag and looking through there selection as a start.

Kicker the whole way is what I did...got it all for around $600, and put it in myself, got a great deal, cause I wasn't in a rush to buy it though, so just look around for some deals...as stated above, crutchfield is also a great place to find deals...they often have a lot of clearance and closeouts on some really good products, and give reviews from others with the same things...

I'll definitely consider looking through Crutchfield, however, weight is irrelevant and so is anyone hearing me. I get aftermarket audio for myself =)

Thanks for the suggestions.

It also depends on what kind of music you'll be listening to. That can help you decide what brands will best suit your needs.

Any genre really. I'm more into Hip-Hop/R&B/Rap, but I'm not one to try and impress society with how loud my bass is. I like to keep it subtle at most times and sometimes bump it a bit with friends. That's about it.

I'm looking at Crutchfield and it looks like a really nice site.

I'm thinking Jensen Headunit, Infinity Components and probably rears too. Haven't really looked at subs and an amp yet because that'll come later.

Is a component system + rears too much?

I'm a huge fan of infinity subwoofers. IF you wanted, you would probably be happy with 1 12" infinity sub in a sealed box. You could get brand new rear speakers but...when your car's speakers are balanced, you, as a driver, should not be able to hear the rear speakers all that much. So...depending on how often you have passengers and such...you can get new rear speakers.

I'm actually used to having passengers in my car, so it's probably something I'd prefer to have. I've heard Infinity subs hit pretty well, and a sealed box is a definite.

Do you think two 10's or 12's are too much? Or unnecessary?

well it all depends. are you in to having your car vibrate itself apart from bass or are you into sound quality. if your just into sound quality then an 8-10 sub is all you really need, but if you want to shake the ground then 12s.

Infinity, makes some really good products to...I used the Infinity 7541A before I got the money for a Kicker, and If it weren't for me wanting to switch to all Kicker I would not of taken it out...I could turn up the volume, cut off the sub, and the components would be hurting my ears...also, two 10's or two 12's don't have to be used to their full potential unless you want to, you can always get a remote bass control for them...

infinity is a good brand but as far as your choice for headunit i wouldnt skimp out in that area. your headunit is your main control. id say go with somthing from pioneer for your headunit. also look at this website .
http://www.woofersetc.com/ i bought all my mb quarts and pioneer headunit from here . all great prices and fast shipping. they sell some awsome brands.

OK I will bite

sound quality can be done with any size of woofers from 6-15

i HAVE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE

15'S are only good for the rap

they soundlike s**t

they can't play rock

we run two imagedynamics 15's

they sound fantastic

I dont listen to rap I listen to punk and my wife listens to rap

and I would put it up against almost any so called SQ car

yeah see ive only ran one 12 in my subbie befor i got sick of it, plus a little loud for the kid. but personally i feel that a 10 is a good size to get awesome sound quality out of and not sound like ass. 15s are just basically for spl not sq. and yea pennywise, dead kennedys, and nofx sound like ass on a large sub.....lol

I hate 10"...they don't get low enough for me. I have 2 12's and I'm very happy with them. They get plenty deep. The only thing is that they are in a bandpass box, which is great for rap...which is what I mainly listen to. But, when I have people in the car and they want to play something else, you can barely make out any kind of rock beats, etc.

All right, not to brag but my ice is pretty tight. I stuffed my civic with a full pioneer COMPETITION system. It's like everyone said, it's too heavy but it BANGS. Go check my setup out. pushing over like 6,000 watts. If you like it hitting so hard that it hurts then that's what it does. I have two 12 in ts-w3004spl, and 2 class d pioneer d-2000spl with an ported dual box, running like 20 farad capacitor and yellow top optima batteries also with 4 gauge and lower wirings. It pounds, but it cost me over 2,500 bucks, and it's making my civic slow.
