Thoughts on gauges

I'm a bit torn on what to do about my gauges for my new turbo kit.

I previously had a vac/boost (30 psi), fuel pressure, and EGT gauge. I've sold the EGT gauge with the old turbo kit and removed the other gauges for the time being. They were all mounted at the a pillar (picture below). Since i've been driving around without the a pillar gauges i've really come to enjoy the gauges not being there.

So, now that i'm about to get the new turbo built i need to figure out which gauges i want to run and where. I've got an electronic boost controller, so a boost gauge isn't really necessary. It would be nice to see when i start to hit boost, but isn't necessary. I shouldn't need to worry about over boosting either. So i think a boost gauge might be out.

This leaves me with a fuel pressure and what?
wideband O2?
oil pressure?
oil temp?

Ideas?

And for location. I'm thinking that i'll put them in the cd slot in the dash. I could run 2 or 3 gauges there. Not exactly easy to read while driving, but i shouldn't need to be staring at them and they are hidden. No one can tell i'm running anything until they hear that turbo spool.

So, your thoughts?

I see billet ac knbos.

Anyways.

I think it'd be alright spot, but why not put them in you're AC vents?

ive always hated a-pillar gauges

ive always been a fan of using regular old gauge mounting brackets and screwing them into the center of the dash, but if you dont want to ruin your dash just put them in the vent or something

Ya, i went a bit overboard with all the billet pieces.

I've never really seen a clean setup with them in the ac vents (not in my body style anyway). I'll definitely have to look into that a bit more though.

I only caught them cause I want them

Why not get this from Roush racing:

It's for 05 Mustangs, but I'm sure you can modify it to get it to work on you're dash.

LOL! i was going to suggest those... since im a mustang guy as well.

but id say replace the OEM single disk player with the gauges and get an aftermarket head-unit (even tho its hard to install w/ the 360 system in there)

That's exactly what i was thinking. Still not exactly sure on what gauges to run though.

Build a CarPC, and get a front end.. I saw one that you hooked up to the diagnostic port, and you could everything from the ECU..

There's one now called Fusion Brain, which is pretty damn cool. Expensive, but they are coming out with some damn cool ideas.

Some they are thinking of doing, is fuel flow, air flow, water flow and amp drawage up to .1Amps..

Here's one:

Not that flashy, but the get's the job done, and well.

Another one I was trying to think of.

That is pretty cool. That kind of thing would be perfect for the vette. I would love to customize the heads up display and add external sensors. Wideband O2 readout directly on the heads up

Yup.

JDash is actually working on a new sensor for the Heads Up, calculated HP on the fly, and gives you 1/4 miles with that HP.

All based on weight and a simple math equation.

JDash is a program that reads straight from the ECU for information, like fuel, rpms, ect.

As long as the ECU is ODBII, then it'll read the information.
