What should i TURBO?

Im sittin on a d16 non vtec 99 ex....
i play on getting a turbo, should i turbo this kit on that motor or get a vtec swap and turbo that??

whats the difference, and your thoughts please? Dont knock it, just help.

if you have an ex you should have vtec unless the engine was swapped.

nah man its not a vtec im not sure why but it isnt. and it damn sure doesnt run like one. Im going to boost either, justwanted to know the differences..wanna get a si swap but i cant come across one for a good price.

Do you know how much power ill actually get off boostin just the stock d16 and would it do any good to get a vtec. Im not sure why its not, but it isnt i dont think

look at your block and tell us the motor code. like stated about, if you have an EX it should have VTEC unless the motor was swapped.

tell us your motor code, and we can give you plenty of ideas and insights of whats possible on your motor.

d16y8 is vtec and I've heard that auto trannys wear out quick when boosted.

honestly, for now id rather keep my car auto until i actually do a full swap. I wanna bost it now to have some fun and later down the road when i have enough saved i wanna do a k20a swap or a b20 or a b16 just dont have that cash for the engine and then the labor. So i know ill go to manual, but im staying auto tranny until i swap it..so whats the recommendations?

and how in the hell do i find out for sure if its vtec, doesnt have vtec on the motor head like most do

if your engine block says d16y8 you have vtec.

I would just leave it stock if you don't want to swap to manual until you do the engine swap. Do some suspension upgrades until you have money for the motor.

damnit i agree but im tired of being slow. I mean my car looks good, ive got alot of money into it, just not the engine, if i turbo it and keep it clean itll be ready for when i do the swap.

i just wanna do something to make it quicker than it is now.

YOU HAVE VTEC!!!
ok look, you have a Y8, they have vtec but you cannot feel it "kick in." Why? Becuase it's a SOHC economy based motor. Also, your valve cover does not say VTEC because I believe only the zc's(correct me if i'm wrong) had the vtec cover. Swap, manual tranny, call it a day

yeah somewhat but alot has to do with it being automatic. What kinda turbo setup, which turbo, how much boost come on guys
