Best Woofer+AMP for the cheapest?

Looking at Crutchfield, I've pretty much got my eyes set on my receiver, speakers, etc, but lack the knowledge of woofers and amps. I don't understand how channeling affects everything, nor the ohms.

What would be the best QUALITY bang for my buck, keeping it reasonably low.

Ideally, I'd like to get everything from Crutchfield at once.

I thought someone would ask that.

I've been looking at the LS5s (10) and they're going for what, $250? That would probably be the most I'd spend on a woofer.

Amplifiers are a different story for me, I have no clue about them. So for the woofer, max price around $250 and as cheap as I can go without gimping the setup and staying efficient.

Alpine and infinity make some great subwoofers. Infinity has the highest sound reproduction DB quality, as far as I know.

I run a Alpine 800w monoblock for my sub and they play better than my previos 1,400 x4ch that Im using right know for voices.

Im very content with the sound quality of the alpine.

Audio Pipe woofer are very good for there price. Ive being running 2 12'' for 2 years and they still going like new.

But for Amp I suggest Alpine and speaker too, For a reciever you can go with
Panasonic thats what I bought so I can play my Ipod. I dont change the ipod for CD again for nothing.

I think Alpine amps are on sale right now in Crutchfield. I don't have my monthly catalog with me right now. :what:

Profile amps are durable. Not the greatest in SQ, but they are cheap and durable.

I'm starting to get a better idea of what I'll be looking to get. Now it's time to think about a box.

I think I saw a link in a thread in this same subforum about a good box for the sub. I'll be wanting to go Bandpass correct?

im looking @ mono amp + sub for my 00 civic too. the only concern is that I have no clue how to wire em, + I don't like the idea of strippin out my floor or back seat.

someone should post how to install amp (step by step w/ pics), it would help a lot.

hmmm, im an installer for best buy but dnt have any pics of it... u would need the amp sub and amp kit, the big red wire goes to positive on batter the black u ground to ur chassis, the RCAs go in to back of head unit, the speaker wire goes from amp to sub box, n the lil blue wire goes to the blue or blue n white wire on back of radio in the harness except some sonys it needs to go to the red... which is switched...

will this works? Basically, I just want to add one box of a sub in my trunk w/ mono amp to power it (leave the rest alone, like 4 speakers & 2 lil tweeters). Just something to shake the trunk of my car.

I'm looking @

Kenwood's KFC-W3011 12" subwoofer $54.00
Alpine MRP-M450 Mono subwoofer amplifier 400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms $149.99

the picture isnt showing up, but yea that will work unless the power rating on the amp his higher in wattage then the sub unless u keep the amp turned down, but u cant rlly blow the amp but u can blow the sub from overpowerage... how many ohm is sub? and u can keep factory speakers to get best sound u would put component alpine type R in fron that come w two tweeters, then regular alpine type R in the back and amp them w a 4 cahnnel amp then run your one sub in the trunk...

this is kinda my wiring diagram ( just not sure if this would work. I want to keep wiring @ minimum). My plan is hookin mono amp to battery and head unit. Then, connectin a sub to mono amp (don't want to connect speakers or nothing).

The sub is Kenwood KFC-W3011
12" 1200W 4-Ohm Subwoofer. Should i get 2-ohm instead? will it make any different? thanks.
