250 lbs?

What the hell do you have? 4 15"s or something?

The box that ate up all the trunk space in my Celica was maybe 100-125 lbs. It was enough to be a pain in the ass to get in and out of the trunk without tearing my rubber trunk seals. The Celica's trunk was a bit shallower than a Civic's hatch area but much longer front to back.

Yes it does effect the performance. That much weight behind the solid live rear axle of my Celica gave it somewhat of a pendulum effect when it started sliding. (Much like a rear-engined Porsche minus the pussy-magnet appeal and the other plusses of driving a Porsche of course.)

For the record, it was my last car with that many subs. Learned my lesson

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a 12" sub, box, and amp and it all weighs maybe 80-90lbs? 100 if I get unlucky on my guess.

I've read the general rule of thumb is every 100 lbs = 1/10th of a second off your 1/4 mile. And because our Honda's have no torque and low end power, of course you'll notice a difference in driving when you have more / less weight in the car. I've had 5 people in my coupe once (including me) and it was like driving a bus. 1 passenger isn't that much of a difference but it is noticeable and feels slower.

Even if you care that much about the weight, just take it all out when you want to go to the track / autocross / whatever. It should take you no more than a few minutes.

See, I see it the opposite. I'd rather not have crappy bass. Most of the time when I hear a car with subs... it sounds bad. So sounds bad + heavy = double no. Since just with Eran in the car I can feel the car accelerates slower, I can imagine I get worse gas mileage too, and I'd rather get good gas mileage. Some upgraded speakers are fine for me.

 :rolf:

Sub-bass is just a part of the full spectrum of sounds that your stereo should duplicate.

To me, music sounds incomplete without it. Treble without a cause.

But most people that have subs have too much. BOOM BOOM BOOM! all the time. No real discernible highs. Muddy, nasty mids. Body panels rattle so much that it sounds like some midgets are in the trunk hitting metal trash cans full of aluminum cans with baseball bats.....

For some reason they typically have big chrome rims too. :what: I haven't really figured out why bad taste in rims goes hand in hand with an inability to hear how bad one's stereo sounds.
