Has anyone noticed any power gain from a cold air intake in a b16a2?
technically there is more gain than loss. but you wont feel it. actually you might notice the loss of low end torque while daily driving if anything

How? Why does it do that?

well unlike a stock airbox, with a tubular intake there is no chamber area for surplus air to be "stored" while the engine is idle. when the driver opens the throttle its like sucking through a long straw creating a heavy vacuum inside the intake piping and making it more difficult for the engine to aspirate, thus inhibiting low end power and torque. once air starts flowing through the intake and the vacuum gains some pressure back towards the positive the engine can begin breathing better and the power increases. the longer the intake tube, the larger the low end torque loss

in the end, you've only gained a couple of whp and its typically at the engines peak hp point and not evenly distributed across the power band

Solid_Snake,

Why do you remove the resonator box? What benefit does it give?

guys, some people add a air filter cone to the stock intake I heard, but how great it benefit? What about the resonator box? Does it have to be remove? Where can you mount the tube too if the box is out?

Why is so important to loss low end torque?NOOB question

our cars arent exactly blessed with lots of torque, so losing some definitely hurts.

it's possible to put an intake on a y7 from a v8, but might be some mode. I'm not 100 percent sure about moding it, sure about getting it on a y7.

So is the password intake good for a d16y7? Should I buy one of those cheap long rams on Ebay and buy a K&N filter in autoshop?

what intake is the best for my honda?
answer: the stock one you already have.. coupled with a good filter.. and possibly a removed resonator..

the problem with this whole official 6th gen intake thread is that it further reinforces the dillusion that spending $200 $100 $75 or even $30 on an itake that "makes vtec louder" is a good thing.. MOSTLY all intakes and MOSTLY all hondas fall short of the STOCK setup... so really.. just leave whats there.. and get a good filter.. call it a day..
