search.
before you even start buying parts, research, research and when you think you found out enough, research some more.

most guys with the new SI's go with superchargers.

it really depends on the setup and power your pushing.
some engines can do very well with stock internals.

really its all about the tune, if you have a shitty tune, your engine will not last.

yeah iv looked into a supercharger. but i just wanted to look into gettin a turbo also. but if im constantly going to have to be doing work on it then i dont want one.

nah you dont have to do any internal work til after aRoUnd 230whp......headstuds and a new hg are a plus....your gonna need a new clutch though probably a stage 2 or 3....bigger injectors as well....id go with dsm 450cc blue top injectors....their good for around 300whp....a new walbro fuel pump wouldnt hurt either..and make sure you get a GOOD TUNE ....tuning is the most important part.....i suggest you research b4 you go turbo though.....its not as easy as it looks ....

yeah thanxxx
lookin more into it i think im most likely going to go with a supercharger cause the kit for that comes with everything i need to get started.

is the si exhaust considered a catback, or can it be considered a catback ?

ok none of that stuff applies to the 8th gen. except maybe the good tune part. you dont NEED to replace internals. turbos are a little more maintainence but its mostly keeping a close eye on things. be sure and get gauges (wideband, boost, and oil press... .minimum), and watch them. invest in a full standalone, although i'm not 100% sure as to what is available for the 8th gen. beyond that the only real extra maintainence with a turbo is full synthetic oil. you have to stay on top of your regular maintainence schedule. you also have to be ready for stuff to break. little problems will multiply quickly when you add boost. thats about the extent of extra stuff. if you do go boost, either sc or turbo, get a new full catback system, the stock system will be too restrictive.

after around 230whp rods will start to break ....maybe not at first but somewhere down the road it will happen...stock rods are thin anyways should upgrade to eagle rods ^_^....^^^ soooo yes after 230whp you should replace rods and pistons if you dont want s**t to break....if your under 230whp then no you dont have to....i said that in my last post though >????

Whether you need to do internal work also depends on the size of your turbo combined with how much boost you regulate it at, and also how many times you hit boost . You take your b***h up to 6,000 RPM's on every other straight away and yea, youll start having s**t break sooner.

figure out what PSI your internals can saftly handle.
you have high psi your stock internals usally need to be change.
but you can get around that by matching psi to stock internals.

There are some turbo kits out there that comes complete with everything you'll need. This all comes with a price... Most turbo kits I've seen for the k20z are roughly around the $6-7k range, plus you'll need a tune after that. The k20z rods come forged so there will be no reason to replace them unless you are thinking about going anywhere pass 350+hp. There are some guys off www.clubrsx.com that run 300-320whp on stock motor reliably.

My recommendation: Do more research over this matter, and look into the vulnerable areas of the engine so you'll get a feel of what parts can be weak and will need to be replaced. Other than that, I would say a good set of head studs and head gasket will be all you'll need.

its all about the tune. I have just over 230whp on a stock d15d jdm been that way for a while. You will just need supporting mods and a tune and youll be just fine. And definately turbo.

i have a d15b jdm with just over 230whp and its been fine for over 12000 now so i gthink it would be fine its all about the tune. you dont need internal work done till you want more power. definately go turbo.
