ok none of that stuff applies to the 8th gen. except maybe the good tune part. you dont NEED to replace internals. turbos are a little more maintainence but its mostly keeping a close eye on things. be sure and get gauges (wideband, boost, and oil press... .minimum), and watch them. invest in a full standalone, although i'm not 100% sure as to what is available for the 8th gen. beyond that the only real extra maintainence with a turbo is full synthetic oil. you have to stay on top of your regular maintainence schedule. you also have to be ready for stuff to break. little problems will multiply quickly when you add boost. thats about the extent of extra stuff. if you do go boost, either sc or turbo, get a new full catback system, the stock system will be too restrictive.nah you dont have to do any internal work til after aRoUnd 230whp......headstuds and a new hg are a plus....your gonna need a new clutch though probably a stage 2 or 3....bigger injectors as well....id go with dsm 450cc blue top injectors....their good for around 300whp....a new walbro fuel pump wouldnt hurt either..and make sure you get a GOOD TUNE ....tuning is the most important part.....i suggest you research b4 you go turbo though.....its not as easy as it looks ....
D series rods maybe. D series rods are like tooth picks.after around 230whp rods will start to break....^^^ soooo yes after 230whp you should replace rods and pistons if you dont want s**t to break....if your under 230whp then no you dont have to....i said that in my last post though >????
6k is nothing.Whether you need to do internal work also depends on the size of your turbo combined with how much boost you regulate it at, and also how many times you hit boost . You take your b***h up to 6,000 RPM's on every other straight away and yea, youll start having s**t break sooner.
figure out what PSI your internals can saftly handle.ok so im thinking about boosting my si. but i herd that with turbos there a lot of internal work you have to do with them ?
