if there was a car at the bottom of the pic it would be even better! :P Preferably something like a EVO or STI. :D

I also have a really noob question here, I plan on buying a few different filter for my D60 and I am just wondering what size(mm) or filters I should buy. I am guessing they will be 52mm but with different lens' does the diameter change? I have the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens'. Thanks. Also, if you were to recommend some filters what would they be? I know for sure I want a circular polarizer and UV filter but I don't know what company is respectable or not, also if there is any different kind of filters that are neat and worth having I'd like to know.

One of the towns big contractors seems to love using that type of light in their new homes.

Nice shots john..!

That shot of mine would have been better if that shadow wasn't there.

I can't wait to get my car back so that I can go shoot a few more bands that I have appointments with.

Coutts, sick pictures bro... what did you do in PS with this pictures? :-)
thanks! believe it or not i actually did it all in lightroom! (minus border and signature).

just to show how much sky detail i was able to recover, heres a before and after:

Before:

After:

It's amazing how much of a difference it is. i <3 lighroom lol.

idk a big part of my pics is the post processing. since i don't own a dslr of my own (borrowed my friends 20d for this shoot), and using a p&s normally, it takes alot of editing i guess.

hoping for a dslr for christmas, we'll see though! :D

LOL. well i'm sure shooting in raw helped too haha.

i used the gradient tool, to apply an exposure adjustment gradient to the sky, i set the EV value down 1.5 on the sky and it faded into the foreground, so i got a realistic "nd filter" effect i guess you could call it. (read about this technique in a photog magazine that morning at borders haha)

then i applied the same idea, but made it adjust the saturation, and increased the saturation of the sky to bring osme more color to it, and viola! it honestly transformed the whole picture. then i just added some contrast and added my signature and a border.

its really quite simple ;-)

you really should take a look at lightroom, i was skeptical before too, i always said "wtfs the point, just do it in photoshop" but its really neat. my favorite feature is the gradient tool.

i can recover sky's like that in PS non raw, but i think you need a polorizer filter, you could do some wonders with one, but great pics nonetheless coutts

thanks! i know a polarizer would help, but like i said i'm only borrowing the camera lol. i had a polarizer for it last time, but i returned it because i needed some extra cash. i'm unemployed now, so i can't even afford a polarizer

Lens openings dictate filter size, I have to carry three different sizes with me for different pieces of glass.

Tiffen makes excellent filters but be prepared to pay $48 for a 52mm circular polarizer. As for a UV filter, I prefer to use a Tiffen Sky-1A filter.

I have a flourescent filter but I don't think it's worth a damn.

i've never noticed a differnece with or without a uv filter :what: does it actually make any visible difference anywhere?

That's why I use a Sky-1A. A UV filter is just a piece of flat glass (srsly). I think of it more as protection for the lens though, the filter takes the beating instead of the first lens.

Yeah, all I have heard is that a UV filter is more then a protection then anything...and I've seen a lot of people turn down particular lens' for the sheer fact that the previous owner did not use a UV filter on the lens.

i see. well i knew that before, just didn't know if you could actually see any noticeable difference lol
