Key word: dealer.
All I hear from people I know that deal with dealerships is that they suck and try to squeeze every penny out of you. Hell even places like Good Year. I went to get new tires and the guy was like, "we noticed your camber is off by a lot. Would you like an alignment?". I go "no, I'm good, I don't need one". Then he starts lecturing me on how I need one and my tires are going to wear out really fast. He told me this story where this guy came in every 2 weeks for a new tire because his camber was so bad. Uhh okay dude. It's been over a month since I got my tires and they're still wearing evenly.
My friend had an early 2000 Audi A4 Quattro. The only thing he had to change was a wheel bearing out of the maybe half-a-year he owned it. Never had a problem otherwise. It had over 140k miles too IIRC.
that is 100% false.
we DO NOT do any work that is not needed.
we, the techs, are the ones who inspect a vehicle for things that need attention. you think WE want to create more work for ourselves? f**k NO, ESPECIALLY with cars that suck to work on (german ones). we fix what the customer wants, and if there is any other SERIOUS issue then we will MENTION it to them, we DO NOT get paid enough to just start fixing s**t that a customer doesnt ask for .
we do not get paid more with the more work we do, it is not like some money grubbing corporate douche is allowed to tell us what is wrong with a car. half the time they dont even SEE the cars that come in. we are the ones inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing.
