im gettin ready to put the final touches on my h22. now alot of people said not to boost it because it wouldnt hold, weak or thinner walls were the issue. now do they make sleeves for the h series? plan on running more than 10psi

ring lands are the main issue, they break easier than most other honda pistons, The sleeves in an H only become a liability after a lot more power than you are probably going for. 400 hp would be the most I would go on stock sleeves, but then you can get iron punch in sleeves put in to go to 6-700 and then you can go for more, but pistons would be my first worry.

What would u suggest i run for pistons. what i should say is bout what c/r would do me best. i do plan on using this as a drag only motor further down the road. also do u know where i can get the sleeves?

ebay. But if you don't want to sleeve it, get some Mahle gold pistons, 9:1 cr. They are forged, and you don't have to sleeve the block to put them in.

If you're pushing around 10psi + a good tune on your H, it should be just fine.

BUT, if you want more, I would strongly suggest you go get that thing re-sleeved. Just incase if you're wondering, but H22 sleeves are not made with the same material as B16s, B18s, etc... They're made with something like fiber reinforced metal or something like that (IIRC). And they are not as strong as most B-series sleeves.

*If I remember correctly, B20 sleeves are made of FRM also....

Don't quote me on this, since I'm not 100% sure. But I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find all you want from Google.

Good luck.

B20's have iron cylinder walls, they are just 1 piece all the way across and much thinner than regular B series since they are just a bored out Ls with a single sleeve all the way across. The H22's first weak link isn't the block. I've seen 400 whp h22's commonly on stock blocks with just rods and pistons with a gt40 with an otherwise stock motor.

h22s are not bad on boodt. you can get 300+ to the wheels all day if you just get a good tune.

I dont know exactly what each steel/metal is called, but i know that running an aftermarket piston will cause problems with the stock H "sleeves" due to the wrong material. Again, not sure which material it is, or if a company offers aftermarket in the correct material, etc. etc.

There are tons of companies that do sleeving for H series.

Also, you'll get a MUCH better torque/hp ratio than on any other boosted honda motor (built or not)

Think i just wet myself a lil...ok. looked at race engineerings page......apparently i can get a 2.5L stroke me kit for it. that added with darton sleeve kit and the goodies just makes me all hard....kinda. downside is itll b expensive but well worth it.

a stock boosted h can make as much power as a b. 7 or 8 psi can get you to 270-280 WHP. anything over 10psi would be puching it but that much power will be fun for a while.

I had one friend push 10 psi with a 76 trim T4, stock internals, and put down 300ish. I had another friend resleeve, and build his bottom end, put down 640 to the wheels on 20-21 psi out of a PT67. If youre not looking to get over 300, I would say just tune it correctly.
