A question for the people who have fully built motors with boost.
My civic is at the shop right now and im installing the following:
- 75.5mm YCP Vitara pistons
- Eagle rods
- ARP head studs
- OEM head gasket, valve gasket, and all the seals and the other stuff like oil pump and fuel pump are OEM as well.
My question is do i have to build the head too(i know i have to clean the head and stuff)? caz i've seen people running with stock head and hitting close to 400 hp, BTW my turbo is small right now but im just curious (my turbo is TEO4H by mitsubishi)..

please i need ur help and ur answers caz my mechanic said u have 2 build the head but im short on cash, Thank You in advance...

Whats your hp goal? What motor is it? How many miles on it?

well, IMO, since your boosted, some turbo cams would help. but building the head isnt needed.. and the D should hold up pretty good since the bottom is strong! boost on I say!

just dont boost to much or BOOM lol
i would say you should throw in a turbo cam or cams since you didnt post your motor
but you can do that later just make sure you tune it asap

ohh sorry, vitara pistons are mostly for D series, so my engine is a D16Z6 and its going to the machine shop for the oversize pistons, and for now i have a small turbo, go to google and type TEO4H lol, i wanted 2 push it to its limit, so lets say 15 psi, the turbo is rated for 250hp max..

So you guys think with vitara pistons, eagle rods, arp head studs, ACL race bearing and a STOCK head and stock valves etc will be good ? is there any risk? ohh and it will be fully tuned..

Thanks guys,,,

even with stock sleeve with 15psi your gonna easily blow ur motor. even if you have piston and rod and etc. i have fully bottom end build beside sleeve and im only doing 10psi because im afraid of what could happen. so 300whp+ is good for me. mines a b series motor. but are you talking about 400whp or just HP? you need a bigger turbo if u want to make more power~!

thats why i want to push my turbo to its limit caz its small, if i had a GT35R then thats a diff story, caz 15 psi on GT35R is pretty much kissing my motor good bye..If i get that 250 hp with my small turbo then im happy, til i save money for building the head and get a bigger turbo

wow you guys are idiots....

you will be fine to max out that turbo with a stock head....thats small turbo...and you have a built block...you will be fine....

d16 stock head can push around 375hp b4 it needs to be built....

http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=46378

but 375hp is the around the max for pump gas anyways....atleast for a d16

thats what im doing .... i built my bottom end with srp pistons and eagle rods....hks heagasket....arp headstuds...i recently bought a holset hx35 that im gonna run....gonna try to get 350whp on 91 pumpgas....stock head....it was rebuilt...but with oem parts....

also gonna port and shim my pump....i hate spinning bearings...

yup...new oil pump will be fine. with that i would only go with a true honda one. grab a water pump while your at it from honda. and like ll3o0sTeD said youll max out that turbo before you need head work done.

nice 375 for a single cam. not bad at all! but that motor wont last long. =) unless you have tons of money and dont care hehe =P. you going to run alot of problem after you get that much power..no traction then you have to buy this and that and blah blah. so on. never end i guess...

I personally won't go over 300 or 20psi with a stock head. Even with a good tune, there is a difference between "pushing" and maintaining it, as stock heads with such power can't handle high RPM's. It's great to see people pushing the envelope, but mine will stay in the lower 300's since I will never plan on building the head.

then just keep the rev limiter low, like at 7200 rpms.... thats what im doing...
