Behalf on other members I must say, this is getting pretty pathetic. I understand they're stays are short, but I'd rather deal with spam than trolls that constantly get ignored. If we do something about it now, the least we could do is limit the masses of trolling or spamming in the future.

There needs to be talks again on a trial membership before newbs can post, especially in the off topic forums. This must the only automotive forum I know of without this feature, and it's not like their first posts are ever informative. If they really think their first post needs to be heard, they'll tough it out.

I completely agree.

It is getting a little bit ridiculous with the posting, i feel like its been more than usual.

Trial membership is needed.

If you notice most of the trolls (in any forum) join to post only in the off topic section, which is typical since they have nothing to share but their newfound awareness of forum trolling. Nothing against those who currently post only in off topic, but you have to wonder why they are really there. If we set a trial in the off topic, they can at least get the idea of what the rest of the site and members are all about before conflicting with them in off topic.

I perma banned a troll today :what:

the only thing is that who you may consider a troll is considered by others just to be a noob. Noobs come on and make stupid threads all the time. The problem lays with regular members going onto their thread and insulting the noob because it's to hard for retards to ignore other retards. Sometimes the noob will bight back with insults but WTF do you expect when he's being e-attacked by a bunch of you f**kers. Then you label him a troll and want him banned.

Now, if staff starts to crack down on these noobs you want to label troll then we have to crack dow on the members who are the ones starting the s**t. With that comes you guys crying bloody ass rape because we are giving you infractions and banning. Then we'll be labeled "nazi mods" just the same way you girls are labling noobs "trolls".

get it? ;)

i suggested once, and i stand by this idea, when i member joins this site, their first 10 or so post should be approved by mods before it can be officially posted for others to read, i have seen this on many other site, and i think it works effectively enough to have us ban spammers before anyone can see their post.

Mods please take Tom's idea into consideration, i know it might be a little more work for you guys but it could make the site a little bit less hectic than it should be

the only reason why my idea got shot down was someone perticular thought that would drive new members away, however i don't think something like that would cause someone to say screw this site, they don't need me since i can't openly post for a few post, seriously how hard is it to post a few question that would be legit enough to end up being a perm member.

I see your point, but there is a difference in trolls and noobs. Noobs join the forum, post their cars (rice or not) and get flamed for stupid questions due to lack of searching. The trolls I'm speaking of come on the forum, claim to have a civic or some other vehicle (if any), and whore out off topic with senseless posts.

It doesn't even have to be a 30 day trial like most forums. Even if it was ten days, it can be effective. Trolls and spammers aren't gonna wait that long to stir commotion, they'll go elsewhere for instant attention.

I think we all would rather have people here that are willing to go through a trial period so they can be familiar with site and basic search functions before contributing to the forum.

actually we have seen some spammer who registered like a month or 2 ago come back and post, they're not caught when they first join cause they don't post, so know one knows they exist till they do like a month or more later, then sure they get banned, so i'm not positive that a time frame would work as well as a post approval would, but you never know.

I know what you are talking about, I see it too. Still, that's much better than a new member with 0 posts trolling in Off Topic, and causing hostility to the point where long time members are getting infractions. It's getting pretty pathetic out there dude. Yeah it's the internet and the last place to get serious, but as far as this forum goes this issue needs to be prioritized.
