i got these for my 97 civic. they look really really nice at night and the main reason i got em was cause i switched out my cluster to get the tach but the cluster was from an automatic so i got the manual faceplates. the image poster wasnt working on my comp so ill try to post a pic tomorrow but i think the ebay store should have some for your car
oh and NEVER remove the needles. these just slip over like gloves. i learned the hard way and broke the gas guage :(

:word: Third that, I had some of those plasma things in an s-10 once they gave me nothing but problems. LEDs are the way to go. Is there a how to around here on LEDs?

The second set that was posted is in mine right now. I don't know how long they have been in as they were on it when I got the gauges, but the inverter went out not too long after I got the car. (Original set was shot and the set with the glow gauges ended up being in a box in the trunk). Now you can barely see them with the stock light shining around the over lays.

Soon as I find a good replacement set of gauges I am going to replace them. I pulled the gauges out to see if I could just take the over lay off but they are glued on.

Better bet would be to go with L.e.d.s. The glow gauges are cheap crap.

as dumb of a question as this may sound, arent the gauges in a 97 illuminated by a light on the front side of the cluster and not back lit??

They very well could be, but the OP was asking about 5th gen gauges.

It also looks like the how to-s are back lit and at least one of them is about a 6th gen. I don't see where the light would come from on the front as they all look to plug into sockets in the rear.

yeah, i mean it looks like there is a light in the top of the cluster in front of the gauges that light up some of the cluster.... i mean if its all backlit then hell yeah i want to change to red, but if im backlit with red and have some weird regular light in the front itll look pretty weird

They don't look like it to me. I have only taken apart a 5th gen so I couldn't say for sure, but from looking at the how-tos they look like they go together the same way. There isn't really anything in front of them for the light. What you see that looks like a light bulb in front is the light reflecting off the back of the plastic.

thats water... for the radiator, i had a leak for a while, turned out it was just a loose hose clamp. still got it so i can drink the water if i get thirsty. or the water gets low again.

I saw the pics back when I was researching how to do a climate control l.e.d. change up months ago. I checked last night after you asked the question, and the pics are gone from the how tos. Seems like a common problem from a lot of forums. After the sites move or people move/delete the pictures in the photobucket accounts, the links don't work. Nothing more frustrating than going through a how to for advise and all the pics are gone.

Yeah exactly.... Well, I assume when I take the bezel out, then the cluster should be pretty self explanitory??
