I had 150psi for all 4 on my vitaras with stock head and Eagle H beams. I had the compression rings 180 degrees from each other even tho the instructions said 90. Could be why its so high.

Also are you using the FJ rods? The ones that bring the vitara motors compression up to 9:1?

My opinion, Sounds like you have a possible piston ring/ cylinder wall sealing issue. If you have 95psi on 3 cyl.'s and 150psi on 1 cyl. you have a problem(could also be other things to headgasket, hanging valve, etc.). Try wet compression testing those 95psi, if psi goes up you most likely have that issue. Take it back to the machine shop that f'd up and tell them to fix it or give you yur money back

rings explain the low compression but improper piston to wall clearances explain both the low compresion and piston slap. someone messed up here. did the machine shop have the pistons when they did the bore/hone of the block?

I am about to install these into my D16. Any hints on these for me to put them in? What to not do so i dont have problems with these. Also what is your compression with Eagle H beams? And compression with FJ rods? What turbo are you running?

ya, they had the pistons and the rods, and it was over bored caz its 75.5mm instead of the stock 75mm..

i have eagle rods and the compression is 95psi on three cylinders but one cylinder is 150psi.. my turbo is a mitsubishi TEO4H, its a small turbo so it wont harm my engine but once everything is done i will upgrade to garrett GT28 or sumthing like that..

the dish on the pistons and how low they sit below the deck also contributes to the how low it make the compression. Vitara pistons on a eagle H beam rod is around 8.5:1. If you use the FJT rods it bumps it up to 9 somthing to 1.

alot of the 'piston' slap is from the p2w clearance.....but alot of noise also comes from the floating wristpin design. You have to remember that these pistons were never ment for a honda engine...but because they have the same bore (75mm) people use them

8.5:1 will not result in compression of less than 100, and definately doesnt explain the difference of one pistons having 50 percent more compression.

wat up boys, i know its been awhile but im back :D
ok, so the car ran for about 1000 miles now and i did a short video about the piston slap to show you guys what i mean. The car is warm but you can still hear it clearly. I need more opinions and answers please, especially from the people who have the same set up. Thanks in advance..

So is this normal ??..
