How long did your nintendo entertainment system last? Your Sega Genesis? Dreamcast?
Those system didn't run as hot as the newer systems, they also had less things to go wrong.
Don't defend em man f**k that, they knowingly released a defected product and rather than delay it they shipped it and then fixed it later to then f**k over the early adopters.
I'm not defending them, I'm just letting you know how it works. Every company releases a defect product, it's going to happen, but when you're talking about these systems and the numbers of them being made things are going to happen.
There's a price to pay for being a early adapter in technology, and having issues is one of the major ones. They extended their warranty to three years for the RROD.
You also have to see it from their point of view. They don't know how the console was treated, what it was subjected to, what climate it was in, ect. These all play a factor to how hot the console runs, and even causing early breakage. This comes with the territory of technology.
That's why Normal Wear and Tear is not covered by warranties and alot of times a company will claim normal wear and tear on a product after a certain length of time.
f**k that?
I easily have over 1k invested in this box, they don't make $ off hardware it's in their interest to keep me as a customer to keep spending.
It's not in their interest to keep one customer out of millions. It's in there interest to please thousands/tens of thousands of customers. They could care less about 1 customer. That's what happens when you start to deal with large corporations/companies.
Also, they don't lose money on each xBox anymore. When they started production, they did, they lost 126 dollars every xBox, but this where is Moore's Law comes into play, it's been almost 5 years since xBox has began production, that's 5 year old hardware, an it's getting cheaper to make. By now Microsoft is making profit on xBox's, not losing it.
