As a mac user for almost 6 years now, owning a few apple computers, an iPod touch, a nano, and various odds and ends here and there, I am actually quite confused with this play at the market. I would expect apple to be debuting this exact product except not with a blended iPhone/OSX platform. The pc market is kicking ass and taking names with netbooks and it seemed reasonable to think that the secret project apple had in the mix would have been a macbook mini or something. At the same time I just get the urge to want to buy one of these, for the simple fact that a proposed 10 hour constant operating, video streaming, battery life can be attained. I would love to have 10 hours of video to watch on my giant display when I'm flying or riding passenger across the state. My macbook last about 5 hours with the screen brightness turned down watching videos, and surely that is enough time for me to get just about anything done, but the draw of a new tablet is almost worth it.

truth is, we won't know how useful or useless it is until the final release. They showed some things in videos but much of which wasn't working or was missing features still.

imo, coming from apple, I expected it to be much much closer to at least a grand being the lowest model. But the fact that its suppose to be a notepad like computer, yet you can do only one thing at a time, thats just ridiculous. But who knows, maybe things will change. Apples got my interest.

No, it's not a giant iPod touch. It's the middle ground between a laptop and an iPhone, leaning more towards the laptop spectrum. It can do word processing, powerpoints, all sorts of office type applications. From the pictures I've seen, games seem to have excellent quality. You can write on the screen (of course, it's a tablet), which makes this an excellent tool for students. Etc etc... I read a play by play of the release yesterday.

One thing that really makes me want one of these is the 3G. I also love the fact that it's only half an inch thick and weighs 1.5 lbs which makes it really portable.

I can see myself picking up one of these some day. Maybe as a present for myself if I get accepted into graduate school.

I sure would be interested in giving it a try, but ive had to many problems with multiple ipods. So Apple isnt on my #1 list. But if it does sound more quality and not as many bugs, i would give it a shot.

HTML5 is the future man. Flash is notorious for crashing browsers. Though I agree, w/o flash it's hard sale for me too. I kind like watching flash videos, especially when there are teh womenz flashing in them.

Agree on HTML5 and teh grrrrlz. But, we're in the present, so, flash is an essential feature that should be there.

Hopefully they figure the stuff out on release. Will definitely goto a Apple Store and play with one.

Honestly, not impressed at all. I thought this was gonna be like a tablet laptop. you know, with the rotating screen and all. Honestly, I would never even consider buying this thing. I'd much rather have a netbook. Like seriously, a touch keyboard? really? wtf. mega lame if you ask me.

I thought the iphone was a little much, but it does have some neat features and cool apps. As for being a smartphone. Meh, its ok. I suppose it gets the job done.

This, though? the iPad? No thanks... even for $500. I'll give em props for trying something new, but I'd be surprised if this sells well based on its functionality... In other words, if it didn't have the "Apple" logo on it, I don't think it'd sell. And I'm by no means an Apple hater. I really like the macbooks. This product just seems kind of useless to me.

I think its useless. I can buy a netbook cheaper and its the same size with the same capabilities. I just keep calling it the iTampon
