Yeah... major letdown. As you said regrets, I think the biggest downfall is the lack of file type extensions. There is no way this thing should ever be called any type of computer. They could make a powerpoint and word processing app for the iphone and it'd be about the same.
The thing that blows my mind the most that no one has brought up yet... NO REMOVABLE MEMORY!!!!!!! WTF!!!! What's the point in a f'n word processor if you can't put your s**t on a flash drive... and $499.99 for a 16GB What the hell is wrong with apple and their little ass hard drives? Hd's are so cheap now. I still haven't understood why it's a whole 100 bucks more for a 16gb iPhone instead of an 8gb.

I love the design and everything but seriously...
I'll spend my $500 bucks elsewhere if I want a f'n newspaper reader.

And I have an iPhone btw.

You know what weighs less than an iPad, costs less, has better battery life and can never be corrupted?

A real book. They're even cordless.
You now you are completely wrong. Have you ever been to a college bookstore? Those books are huge and as a former book store clerk I can tell you that students can spend around 500- 1k on books per semester. Thats not cheaper. If people moved to digital media it could cut production cuts by a bunch and save everyone money.

I agree with you on this. College books suck.

I think he was talking about regular reading books, not college books.

In my eyes, it's still just a giant iPod Touch/iPhone, just with more gadgetry. It's the same concept as them IMO. Just bigger and cooler /w more stuff :what:.

Do I think it's cool as hell? Sure. But would I buy one? No. I still love my PC.

I wouldn't buy an iPad so I can do homework either. That's what my laptop is for. As for school books, yes, they are expensive. But no one is holding a gun to your head and saying you have to buy them from the bookstore.

The itouch can't do more. The iPad is basicly a giant Itouch. You guys don't seem to understand that this product isn't ment to replace a computer. It isn't ment to be your only computer. It is a convenience device for those that would like to be able to actually read things without having to squint or pinch a billion times. That is the big selling point for this device. You can read comfortably on the device. That's it. It's not the second coming of Jesus but hey if you enjoy reading and don't want to lug around a 50 pound backpack then this is a great device. Especially since apple is hooking up with more and more textbook providers.
