-P28 (awaiting)
-DSM 450CC's w/ resistor box

So all in all, my brother wants to get his done at a shop, im doing mine with my craftsman tool box. He doesn't want me to do it because the last the shop screwed him over with his install so he wants to get it installed a different shop for $600 w/ tune. Im going to prove him wrong and im going to do it myself. I dont know s**t, I can do a header install, oil change lulz, intake install yadda yadda.

I pieced the kit together, and read through a DIY and it looks like its a super easy install. This thread is just to ask a few questions in case I hit a small speed bump on the road. Im going to install it 02/14/10 (one day before my 1 year anniversary of being jobless). Im trying to piece together s**t before I install it. Is there anything you guys recommend I upgrade before I throw it on? The oil feed line is rubber with a steel braided wrap and the return line is a steel braided line. Ive heard bad things about oil lines so if theres anything let me know please. The car will be driven 20 miles on a basemap to the tuner, then it will have a full tune.

________

I just need an
-Extra cut off wheel to chop off block incase turbo hits the ridges
-Drill bit for oil feed line on oil pan
-Correct couplers for FMIC to charge pipe etc.

Anything else you guys recommend I pick up before the install?
Any tips on installing the boost controller?
Any tips on installing the wastegate? It has 2 spacer plates and I dont see how the would work.

Please allow me to keep my AC log manifold.

Lets see pics of the manifold so I can see this wastegate set up...the turbo looks small enough for clearance, but we need to see the manifold for a/c compliance.

I wouldnt use a boost controller.. Once your tuned for a certain amount of boost and your AFR's are set, you dont want to change the boost setting. I would youe a 'tee' in the boost line and have it set for what your actually boosting. Its more reliable than some controller and will never fail.

it looks easy..and it is..but just plan on adding a few days or hours to the install..something always goes wrong: not enough vacuum line..things break..etc

i'd take the oil pan to a shop where it can be welded also, unless you want drips of oil all over your driveway

It also came with yellow hosing for this. Where do those lines go?

Im guessing thats the T fitting for the oil line behind the block. Anybody know what that little bracket is for? It

What line connects to that fitting?

Self explanatory lol.
How do I get the rubber hosing over the red "bolts"? The line gets a snug fit on it, but the red "bolt" doesnt slide over the line. Am I supposed to squeeze it in or something?

This is to be taken to the muffler shop to get a custom dump tube fabbed up?

Does that end require a donut gasket of some sort? It came with a regular gasket similar to the ones that the turbo, manifold etc use.

It seems like I have a twist on a style bung for the oil return. I cant use that or add some sort of rubber washers in between??

and to be honest, none of my friends are boosted haha. and I have about 10 close friends with modded Hondas. f**k my life.

Pics attached in the previous post brosef. :D

Im not planning on messing with the boost level once its tuned. So ill just leave it in the engine bay tucked away.
What 'tee' are you talking about?

Hmm sweet. I dont have a job so I wont have to worry about down time. Im hoping on finishing it in a day but we all know how well dead lines go with Hondas.

I take it twist on style fitings arent reliable. :x

I took no offense and I know you werent talking s**t. I was just asking for what parts of the kit you didnt like.

I didnt just hop on the "eBay" kit, ive been reading reviews for a long time and almost everyone seems to be happy with theirs, making good numbers, and saying they are good value for the money spent.

take your downpipe to a shop as well. more than likely things arent going to line up right, tell the exhaust shop to put a flex pipe at the end of your downpipe. that will keep it safer from cracking in the long run. make sure you take your turbo and manifold with you so they can line everything up right.

Do I have them put the flex pipe on the DP itself or after the pipe on the exhaust??
