Health Care Reform

You and others in here blow loads of money on your cars, games, phones, cloths etc. rather than getting health care (that's your choice)!
Taxes that you pay and qualification for the Reform Bill are based on your income not how you spend it. So your point is irrelevant.

ron you quoted my saying 43 million is the point, there are also a reported 15-20 million illegals living in the us currently, they are a large number of the people who are uncovered.
The estimate is that there are 32 million Americans uninsured because they can't afford it or don't qualify for coverage. 32 million. In addition, those who can afford insurance are paying way too much, right? Or do you want to continue to pay an enormous fraction of your paycheck to health care? If so, the plan allows you to make that choice.

You'll be paying 25% of your income to keep your current plan. Or you can switch to a plan backed by the Bill that maximizes at 8% of your income. The Bill allows you to make the choice. It won't force you to give up your current insurance plan, if that's what you really want. Seriously, you need to do more reading before you write the article.

And by the way, the wealthy (earn >250K/year) will shoulder a large part of the cost of the Bill. You will actually pay very little more in taxes, unless you make more than $250K/year.
so here is my question to your statement. Why should the people who make >250k a year be responsible for paying for the healthcare of everyone else?

I'm not sure I have a satisfactory answer. I believe the Obama administration argues that the wealthy were under taxed and lower income brackets were over taxed by the Bush administration. I think there is an attempt to balance things out.

While the Health Care Reform Bill mentions fines for people who do not join the plan, there is a lot of discussion about whether this would really be enforced. I am reading that it will not be enforced, at least for many years.
THEN GET IT OUT OF THE BILL!!!

but can you opt out of getting sick? This is an important distinction.
your right.. but last time i checked it was MY choice as to what to do WHEN i get sick.. it is MY choice to save money for that day... or not.. it is MY choice to go to the doctor or not.. i personally NEVER get sick so at this point i do NOT have health care because on the off chance i get sick it is cheaper for me to just pay and go to the dr. and be done with it.. so FORCING me to pay for health care so YOU can get it cheaper is f**kED UP... you are TAKING from me and GIVING to you.. "all in the name of the greater good" my point is you seem to have NO issue in that... where does it stop for you? you know if you rented or purchased a house that had ONE more room than you NEEDED.. and the government stated that you must take that room and house a homeless person.. you could say it IS for the greater good.. it WOULD reduce the number of homeless.. it WOULD reduce cost to the government trying to house these people with no where to go.. would you do it? would you be for it in the name of the greater good? f**k NO.. why? because its RIDICULOUS for the government to expect YOU to deal with someone elses problems.. life is tough you have enough of your own problems..

Are there penalties if you don't buy insurance?

If you ignore this mandate and don’t get health insurance, you’ll have to pay a tax penalty to the federal government, beginning in 2014. This fine starts fairly small, but by the time it is fully phased in, in 2016, it is substantial.

An insurance-less person would have to pony up whichever is greater: $695 for each uninsured family member, up to a maximum of $2,085; or 2.5 percent of household income.

There are exceptions. Certain people with religious objections would not have to get health insurance. Nor would American Indians, illegal immigrants, or people in prison.

You're also very misinformed!

Sure they can, the vast majority of young people can afford a plan that covers catastrophic care. You and others in here blow loads of money on your cars, games, phones, cloths etc. rather than getting health care (that's your choice)!
I've already posted saying I have health care, and I provide it to my employee's as well. I don't blow loads of money because I don't have loads of money, but I make sure I always have enough to cover my health care and my employee's. If you would actually read, you would've know this. At the end of the month I've only made 2000 dollars. The last time I bought clothes was for shirts for my business. The last time I bought a phone was last year, and paid 25 bucks for it. So stop assuming, and being ignorant.

How other people spend their money is their own choice. Some people don't want 400 dollars taken out of their paycheck every month for health care that they probably won't use. Except when times call for it.

The vast majority can pay for basic health care but they choose not to (very relevant)!

Once the Obamcare mandate kicks in what will happen if you don't purchase insurance or don't pay the fine? You get fined and or go to jail. Thanks but no thanks!

The bill doesn't cover illegal immigrants.
my point is to have such a problem with them that they are SO rampant it has to be addressed.. they bill does not say "will not cover canadians visiting the US" why? because its common sense unspoken thing.. but you have to SAY illegals blah blah blah because the administration is so accepting of illegals being here...

I'd rather people are forced to pay for health insurance then forced to pay for say, a governors new car, or forced to pay for an illegal immigrants childs way to college.

:word:

If this is any indication of how the "immigration reform" is going to be handled, I sense lots more protests, probably violent ones. There is only so much you can force on people before they say enough is enough. Seems to me like Pelosi and Obama don't recall much of this country's great history and what it was exactly that made the people revolt against the Brits.

you cant justify a new law that is WRONG by pointing out other f**ked up WRONG aspects of the government.. by you SAYING what you are saying you YOURSELF are pointing out how f**ked up the government is.. and then two seconds before saying that you TRUST them enough to take over health care and start legislating law to it..

so you say...
"'d rather people are forced to pay for health in...."
implying that the government is totally f**ked up and runs improperly.....
but then support government running MORE s**t...

yeah.. dont get that..

Actually it was the democrats who wanted the illegals to not be covered.
We have to say "will not cover illegal immigrants" because they think they are entitled to everything a legal citizen is entitled too.

Prove to me how is "so accepting of illegal immigrants being here" he's working on a way to make them legal citizens so they can pay taxes and be bound to the same laws and restraints as other legal citizens are. It's the fact that it can take over 2 years to be naturalized, that's just WAITING after you've done you're paper work and submitted it. To even become a legal citizen you have to be ILLEGALLY.

http://uscitizenshiptestguide.com/text/apply.html

Step 1: Find out if you are eligible, here are requirements for becoming an US Citizen:

* Prove a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States; residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing.

o If you are at least 18 years old and have been a Permanent Resident for the past 5 years without leaving the United States for trips of 6 months or longer.
