I would say no to that hatch. Some body damage isnt bad if its a hood, bumper, or front fender. But that quarter panel damage is going to be a b***h to fix. I know its going to be a track car, but I think you could find better for the price.
Agreed, front end isnt that much but if u can go better price do it but if its only front end and no 1/4 i might say go for it if you like it, dont forget to check inside the wheel well and inside the car since the rust does travel there alsoSome body damage isnt bad if its a hood, bumper, or front fender. I wouldnt even say that. Its just not worth it. He doesnt need the engine thats in it if he is making a track car. He could find a shell in better condition for less in my opinion. And especially since its a track car, he doesnt need a DD desperately, he can wait and shop around.Agreed, front end isnt that much but if u can go better price do it but if its only front end and no 1/4 i might say go for it if you like it, dont forget to check inside the wheel well and inside the car since the rust does travel there also
I see your point. But if its going to be a track car, he will always want to improve it. Why waste money on putting a turbo on the D and then turn around and swap and turbo again. Thats like 2-3k down the drain. Smartest idea in my opinion would be to start with a clean shell, which he could get for cheaper than $1600, and drop in a good base engine. Just my opinion.valid point, but if he wants to do a little body work too then its not a bad place to start, also IMO a track car dosent need to be perfect on the outside as long as it dosent fall apart and it serves its purpose then its fine, if he is looking for no body work needed, skip it and shop around, but if u dont mind doing a little here and there i.e new bumpers or fenders and what not and dont mind it in the primer it comes in until it becomes a DD then its not too bad of a price, not sure if he has a budget but if its way under it gives him extra cash to do that also, if he gets one with the d series you dont need to do a swap just boost that one anyway, all depends on what he is willing to for the project
ahhh you got me there, you win this one lol, that a great point with the boost d and swap anyway thats a good call, around my area though, since there is a lot of salt and sand from the harsh winters we cant find good shells so thats y i was advising if you dont mind doing that little extra work, i didnt even think of where he lives, but if thats all he can find like me, i would say go for it, but its all his choice we r just advisingI see your point. OP you can do whatever you want. Im just saying you would be spending extra money for a shell with damage that takes a lot of work to fix, and an engine that you probably wont use down the line. Keep that in mind.
