What to do?

w00t, sold me 88 hatch :)
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum and i'm only 17, so please be patient with me. Ok, so right now I have an 88 Civic DX Hatchback. But, I wanna buy a 2000 Civic Si, hopefully before the end of the year. But, i've been looking and they seem pretty hard to find. And I really want the VTEC and 160hp. If I can't find one, what would be the next best 6th gen Civic I could buy? All help and answers are highly appreciated. Thank you.

if you like that front end, then i would say ex, but there wont be a b series. it will be a d16y8, in the 120ish hp range. If you would have intentions of motor swap though, i would say dx since it could be slightly cheaper. just my opinion

Thanks, and I doubt the whole engine swap thing. I just don't have that kind of money right now. For now I just want to get a cold air intake, header and exhaust system.

thats reasonable. i love my single cam, im building the car up to handle boost. Its a dx converted to pretty much a ex. Unfortunately, the only civic with a b series and that much power from factory is a SI. the rest will be a d series, and half the price

if you really have your heart set on a b series try picking up a shell for $1000 or so and then do a swap for $2000. bam $3000 car and a b series

Ok, so when you say swap $2000, is that including labor and such or just the engine itself?

well if you were to do it yourself you could probably do it for about $2000. more or less depending on how frugal you are with spending

Ok, well engine swap probably won't be the way I go. But, a shell is just the car w/o the engine, right?

thats fine, just a suggestion. cause you probably won't be able to find an si for less then $5000. yes shell is without an engine

im not totally sure on this. but Si's ran a b16, they have a front and rear lip, look for sway bar in the rear, intake is different, gauge cluster is different, seats are, grill, and idk what else off the top of my head. you can also look in the glove box and read the book. registration. there is a bunch of stuff. i cant remember what to look at vin wise

Ok, another question. If I don't end up getting an Si, is it worth spending the money on an intake, header and exhaust system? Or should I just get a turbo? Or do you need all of that to have a turbo? Sorry, i'm not very educated on civic stuff yet.

Intake and header will be useless since you will be replacing them with a turbo. exhuast you will need, or should atleast have. but slow your roll now, your looking at thousands of dollars to do this correctly and have it be reliable. I suggest you do A LOT of research.

Oh trust me, I know the whole money thing. lol. I've seen my dad spend mucho dinero on his S2000. I don't plan on doing the turbo yet, I was jw on that. But, with the intake, header, and exhaust plan, how much horsepower will you typically gain?

i wanna see this s2k!! i love them. and you will gain very very little. next to nothing, it would end up being mostly for looks and sound, which to me is worth it in the end. honestly, there is a lot of peole selling nice civics on here. should look there, i wish i would of
