Search the forums, there is a ton of information on it.

/cliff notes, its the SOHC version of a LSVTEC. basically you take the head from a D16Y8 VTEC motor and install it onto a nonVTEC block (ex: D16Y7).

Its exactly that straight forward though, there are a few things you have to do to get everything installed properly. But its still fairly easy for the experienced technician.

so would a D16Y7 Block with a D16Y8 Head and ECU be considered a Mini-Me?

Great info all.

Question, and sorry for my noobness :D so I could take my d16y8 block and take the next engine up? (just the head)? to make it a mini swap... for my car?

the original kind of mini me swaps would be putting a VTEC head, z6, y8 or zc, (z6 or zc in the early 90s) on a d15 block but the term has grown to any vtec conversion on a d series.

if you have a y8 motor already do not worry about this. it would be completely pointless

mine was doing this last summer. goes into all gears smoothly, but pops out of 2nd. tighten your shift linkage. that was my issue.
