EVO or civic...... they are not racing

This. I test drove two WRX's, and an Impreza RS. The thing is these cars aren't even worth what people (mainly dealerships) are selling them for. I loved the car. But I had too many experiences with a car that was worth 10k in excellent condition, trying to be sold at 11.5k and was in okay condition. Not only was it out of my budget, but I wasn't about to overpay.there is a reason you bought a civic with the rest of us... (most) it was within our budget...
It sounds like a d**k thing to say, but I have to agree with this.If you're still driving a 16-year-old civic, you can't afford an EVO. The upkeep is a whole nother world.
for one It runs better with 93 than 87. It has more spunk in it with 93. The motor isnt bone stock.why would you run premium?
The reason why Im driving a 16 year old car is becouse this is the only body style civic I like. 4th gen to boxy 6th gen just ugly (to me) so forth and so onIf you're still driving a 16-year-old civic, you can't afford an EVO. The upkeep is a whole nother world.
its not a bone stock civicI think he was asking why the op runs premium in his Civic. There is absolutely NO reason to run premium in a stock Civic. Waste of money.

OP, if you got a steady job and able to afford roughly 600 bucks a month for car + insurance then go for it. Now, I warn you, if you only make enough to pay the car monthly plus insurance from check to check, then it wouldn't be a wise decision.
I picked up my STI a while ago and was pretty much paying for it check by check, the extensive mods and maintenance put into the car kept me from having other nice things and even going out and having a social life. That was my decision though and I was happy with it, I finally have my realistic dream car in my possession. Now that I make a lot more money, I don't have to worry about all the car stuff and pursued in other things that make me broke luls.
Just looking out for other potential STI and EVO owners since most don't really know what they're getting into once they pick up these type of cars.

Still don't need it and NO it doesn't run better with 93 octane. If a car was built for 87 (which civics were) they actually tend to get worse gas mileage with octane higher than what they are intended to run with. Running higher octane in a car designed to run on lower gives no addition to performance what so ever.
Unless you are running high compression or boosted, you don't need it. You are just throwing money down the drain. I/H/E doesn't count.
hate to tell you but my 60 foot and 1/4 mile time is faster with 93 than 87. When runing 87 it runns rough spiting and spudering. When run 93 it runs something. If you can tell me it does that?you have bolt ons which means this whole time you have actually been not only wasting money but reducing the performance of your engine using high octane gas. the money you could have used as a down payment for the EVO.
You have your timing advanced too far.
timing hasnt been messed with cam gear is on "0". The markes on the block and pully or lined up. The dizz is in the right spot. When I changed my timing belt it was a tooth offYou have your timing advanced too far.

Higher octane than the factory recommendation doesn't help your vehicle go any faster. Higher octane gas just requires more compression before combustion than lower octane gas. This is essential if you were to increase the compression ratio of your engine. Adding bolt ons does not do this, and would thus require the same octane as stock. Ultimately, you're forcing your engine to work (slightly) harder to undergo combustion and thus hurting performance (slightly).
Listen to these guys. Stop wasting your money and go back to the factory recommended octane.... or don't. It's your money in the end. We're just trying to help. Otherwise, we wouldn't be debating this with you.

i ran the s**t 87 gas too and i had a d16y7 civic my second car, and it started sputtering under acceleration and being a piece of s**t so i started using 93 in it and it fixed the problem. Therefore i decided to sell it lol. But i also ran 93 in my 99 si.hate to tell you but my 60 foot and 1/4 mile time is faster with 93 than 87. When runing 87 it runns rough spiting and spudering. im just going by what the number on the time slip and the sound on the engin. If my car is going to run rough on 87 Im not going to run it. It runs alot smother on 93. Yall dont drive my car so yall dont know my car. Another thing is This not a thread for my civic. Its a thread for should I trade/sale the civic for an EVO. thank you sir. Im not the only person see the problem I have out 87. I know its not the right recomended gas for it but if it start to run like poo on 87 and you change gas to higher oct. and it works lot better whats the point of going back.
