The difference is the cai puts the filter out from under the hood coming out by the bumper or other place to pick up cold air. Short ram filter stays inside the engine bay. If your going to get one i say just get the short ram as it is less expesive that the cai and you arent going to see hardly any power gains from either. The only exception being maybe the aem v2 but it is very expensive so just go short ram IMO.

with a sri, you don't have to worry about hydrolocking and its less hassle to change the filter

very true and you can do it for very cheap. Get the ebay kit throw the filter away that came with it buy an aem dryflow done.

i prefer a SRI over a CAI. ive had them both before and the SRI is easier to deal with. like mentioned before, with a CAI you run the risk hydro lock. plus the air filter gets dirtier cus its right by the front wheel. i know people say a SRI gets alot of engine heat but u can modify it to where u get some cold air with some bendable tubing.

Trust me, save your money and get a K&N replacement, I've had 2 CAIs and 2 short rams and nothing compares to the drop in K&N. Less maintenance, less money, and better low end torque than either the cold air or short ram.

CAI is a little better but I would just get a short ram. Personally I don't want to risk hydro lock.

Just get ebay piping and nice filter and your set!

He is talking about just leaving the stock airt box and swapping out the stock filter with a drop in k&n.

I had a CAI, cheap one, and the filter started to rust, yes rust. When I lowered my car I took out the inner fenders so I wouldn't rub as much. The CAI was two pieces of tubing, so I just took off the lower one and replaced the filter with a K&N one. So now it's up in my engine bay, and I don't have to worry about water as much. I have not noticed a difference over stock except sound and it looks better, but that's it
