so what i have learned from all you subie guys is that buying any subi used with "higher" milage is a mistake? i am tempted to get one of the following subies: rs2.5, a wrx bug eye or the peanut eye, sti peanut eye, or maybe a legacy 05 up, all share motors for the most part right? and all those motors share a common trans outside of the sti right? thanks tonee and low not slow(what is your name?)
ahhh thanks for the education on subi high milage cars
i honestly had no idea that they faired so poorly until this thread was created. that puts me back to the drawing board .... yes i have jacked this kids thread.
Honestly... There is NO problem with purchasing high mileage Subarus... People often say things like oh motors blow, trannys break, etc etc... But what these unknowledgable fools don't know is that a Subaru motor is just like any other motor out there.
Tom, if you're really serious about looking for a used Subaru, here's a few things off the top of my head to look for:
- CARFAX
- Look at the past history of the maintenance kept on the car(s)
- Look at the MAJOR serviced interval maintenance (30k, 60k, 90k) kept on the car(s)
- How many previous owners the car has been through
- The average age that the previous owners has been
- The previous modifications done to the vehicle(s)
- And most importantly, check out the SOUND, and major components (turbos) of the vehicle(s)
